Celeste lowered her wand. It was over. Voldemort was dead. She looked around. The school looked like a pile of rubble. She didn't look much better, she realized, looking herself over in a piece of broken glass nearby. There was a large gash above her eyebrow, and her robes were torn. Celeste had a flicker of pride as she looked up from the glass at her fellow classmates. They had fought the Death Eaters and Voldemort, and they had won.

Sydney glanced around. She watched as people cried, hugged, and consoled each other. It was strange, really. Voldemort had been defeated, yet most people were crying.

Sydney saw Harry Potter talking to Luna Lovegood. Sydney had always liked Luna, but had never talked to her much. Luna ran over to the window and pointed, mentioning a Blibbering Humdinger. Almost everyone turned to look at the window. Sydney didn't look, she continued staring out into the Entrance Hall. She noticed Harry slip away under his invisibility cloak. Sydney didn't point this out to anyone, she knew that Harry must need some time alone.

Sydney reflected back on the first time she walked through the doorway into the Great Hall. She had felt scared and excited. Looking around at all the staring faces, she saw the face of her sister, Hayley, smiling at her and winking from the Gryffindor table. After that, she wasn't so nervous anymore. Sydney smiled at that memory.

Now, as she looked out to the crowd, she saw Hayley coming toward her. Hayley was the only other member of her family to come and fight. Sydney's father had been murdered by a death eater shortly after Sydney's younger sister, Tanya, had been born. Tanya was a second year now. Sydney's mother had been coming to collect Tanya shortly after she had received word of the fight.

"Hayley, I'm going to the owlery, if it's still there, to find Drake and send word to Mum that we're all right," Sydney told her sister.

Celeste was startled out of her reverie by Luna Lovegood. She liked Luna, her way of talking always made her feel better. She walked over to the window where Luna was standing. "Look, there it is, a Blibbering Humbinger!" She said. Celeste looked out the window. Other people were looking, too, and they were all saying nothing was there. But Celeste saw it. "Why can't they see it?" she asked Luna, wondering if she had gone mad. "Only people how beleive it will be there can see them." This made sense, sort of. Celeste had always beleived in a lot of Luna's ideas, though she was never sure why. Celeste turned away from the window after awhile, and wandered away. Soon the cries of "I can see it!" died away. Celeste hadn't been looking where she was going, and soon found herself in front of Dumbledore's old office. For some reason she didn't quite understand, the stone statue leapt aside, and she found she had stepped onto the spiral staircase. What on earth am I doing? she thought as the she rose, alarmed, up to the door.

Alanna looked around for her friends Keenshu and Trunce. The last time she saw them they were carried away in the steam of the battle.
It was over, all over. Would we now get the long deserved peace? There will always be problems but now Voldemort was gone. Done for. surely this means peace, she thought all this as she ran seaching for her friends.

When she saw Draco and his family, she stopped. Why were they just standing there? Why wasn't someone throwing hexes at them. she was ready to confront them, when she saw them exchange a hug. For the second time, Alanna stopped. They were like us, they've been though as much or more than me,.....they weren't worth her time anyway, she thought bitterly. I don't have to suly my hands anymore than what's been done.

Her friends. She must find them. She ran out the Great Hall.

Celeste was about to open the door when she heard a frightened cry from the bottom of the staircase. She ran back down to find a small boy sobbing. "What's wrong?" she asked, kneeling down to face him. "Nothing," he said, trying to stop crying. "I've just got something in my eye." "In both of them?" she asked, flashing him a smile. "Well, I'm sure Madam Pomfrey can help." Celeste gently started leading him towards the place where people were gathering to get healed. "Why were you here for the fight?" she asked as they walked. "I snuck away so i could help."
"And what happened?"
"A Death Eater shoved me into a broomcloset and bewitched it to try to eat me. Got away, though. Just now, and I bet I'll have a scar." he said proudly, showing her a gash in his arm.
"You definatly need to get to Madam Pomfrey, then." Celeste replied, picking up the pace.

Sydney walked out of the Great Hall and headed towards the Owlery, if it was still there, that is. It was strange walking through the castle now. Everything seemed to be in ruins. Suits of armor laying on the floor missing parts, paintings halfway falling off the wall, their occupants in other paintings comforting each other. Random objects were smoking and some were still on fire. Sydney put a few fires out with her wand as she walked by.

As she walked, she reminisced about her first 5 years at Hogwarts. She remembered how she met her best friend, Olivia. They were both late to Herbology and were running across the Entrance Hall when Professor Snape stopped them and interrogated them as to what they were doing. He gave them both detention and docked 20 points from Gryffindor. They had been best friends ever since. Sydney saw Olivia in the Great Hall, she was talking to another friend. Sydney had to go talk to her once she sent the letter to her family.

Sydney recalled the time in her first year, when the Chamber of Secrets had been open. How scared she had been. And in her third year when Harry Potter saw Voldemort return. No one believed him, but Sydney did. And just last year when Death Eaters came to Hogwarts and Professor Dumbledore had been killed. What a crazy 6 years it's been. Maybe now things can get somewhat back to normal.

Sydney had gotten lost in her memories and found herself upon the Owlery. She saw Drake and he flew down to her. Sydney jotted down a quick note and sent it off with Drake. Now to go back to the Great Hall to find Olivia.

The image of the Great Hall was a bittersweet reminder of everything AnaMaria had been through at Hogwarts. The seemingly endless fight against evil was over; the man whose name she once feared to speak, the man she detested above all others lay dead. Yet, somehow, she knew the healing process would be much more painful than the celebration would be rewarding. The slightly metallic scent of blood, both friend and foe alike, hung in the air. Puddles of crimson dotted the floors as mourners wept over limp bodies.
Snippets of chatter and muffled sobs merged together to form a quiet hum. It had been a few hours since Harry had cast the spell which disarmed Voldemort of good, and the full effect of the battle had yet to set in to AnaMaria's 18-year-old mind. The room seemed far off, detached.
"Is this really happening?" she asked herself silently, "Is it really over?"

A fellow Hufflepuff walked up and placed his arm around her shoulder. "Anaboo, are you okay?" She turned to him and nodded.
"I'll be fine." She said, "How is the rest of the gang holding up?" AnaMaria looked around to see a group of yellow-and-black-robed people in a huddle. Some were looking down, awestruck. Others were sobbing into each others' arms. She looked back up at the boy next to her.
"Micah, who..." Her voice trailed off as her eyes began to water.
"Jackie. It's Jackie, your roommate. It's pretty bad. You might not want to-"
AnaMaria broke from Micah's hold and rushed into the center of the huddle. She saw her best friend since first year, Jackie, lying on the ground. Her robes were stained with blood and her left hand lay limply outstretched at her side, within a few inches of her wand. Tears saturated AnaMaria's eyes and began to roll down her cheeks. She took off her cloak and knelt beside Jackie. Ana ran her hand across the scars on Jackie's face and then used her wand to tidy the blood. She grasped Jackie's hand one last time and then placed her own cloak over the latter's body, and parted the huddle to move it out of the way of the crowd of people looking for loved ones.
In the air above Jackie's body, AnaMaria wrote "Jacqueline Antoinette Zeigler, Hufflepuff house" and disappeared back into the mob to find Micah.

Sydney raced back to the Great Hall, dashing past broken statues and picture frames. Nothing much had changed since she was last there, people were still milling about, talking in whispers, crying, kneeling over their fallen loved ones.

Sydney glanced around the hall in search of Olivia. Where was she? She was just there when Sydney went to the Owlery. As she was looking around, Sydney spotted her sister.

"Have you seen Olivia?" Sydney asked.

"She's just over there," Hayley pointed to a group of people huddled around a body on the floor. "But I have to warn you, you'll be shocked at who died."

Sydney's heart started beating faster as she raced across the hall to Olivia.

"Who is it?" Sydney asked, trying to hold back tears.

"Colin Creevey," Olivia said through tears.

"NO!" Sydney shouted, a bit too loud. Then she broke down in tears. She remembered first meeting Colin. On the train to Hogwarts. They had both been scared little first years. Colin with his camera, Sydney with her duck. Sydney had developed a crush on Colin during that year, but she had never told him. Now she wished she had. Sydney knelt over his body and sobbed.

A single, painstaking "NO!" broke throught the hum of the Great Hall. It echoed across the room and embodied what everyone seemed to be thinking.
AnaMaria glanced around to see an older looking Gryffindor hunched over a body. She gave her an attempt at a reassuring look, but started to tear up. She turned and walked away, only to trip over something on the ground. She fell, and turned to see the barely-living body of her cat, Dory.
She cradled him in her arms and began to sob. Dory gave a weak "Mer," and rested his head on AnaMaria's shoulder. She stood up and made her way to the doors of the Great Hall.
It seemed that the school was in heaps. She walked towards the infirmary. It seemed a bit selfish to try to get Dory healed when so many others were hurt, but there wasn't much time, and she had to try.
As she walked through the rubble she tried to imagine how Hogwarts had been before the battle. She was somber to realize that the image was already fading. Without realizing it, she had found into the bunch of people trying to be healed. "Ouch!"
AnaMaria looked up from Dory. She had bumped into a rather tall Ravenclaw. Ana vaguely recognized her from the train rides back and forth from the platform every year since she started Hogwarts. She stepped back and looked up into the vibrant green eyes staring down at her.
"I'm sorry," said AnaMaria, looking nervous, "I'm not- I- I'm just..." Her eyes fell on the little boy standing next to the tall girl. He had a large gash on his arm it was bleeding pretty badly, and the line was long enough that they'd be waiting for a while longer. Ana suddenly felt a heap more guilty about getting Dory healed. "I'm AnaMaria." She said to the two of them, ripping part of the sleeve off of her robe. "Can I see your arm?" she asked the boy.
He looked stuck it out proudly. She saw that the cut was pretty deep.
"My mom's a muggle. She's a nurse... That's sort of like a healer." She began, wrapping the robe remnant tightly around the boy's arm. "In the muggle world they do this sort of thing... It's pretty handy in times like these. The pressure on your arm will help stop the bleeding."
Ana finished wrapping it and looked at the two of them. "You guys related?"

A girl came over carrying a cat shortly after they had arrived and gotten in line. She bound the boys arm with a piece of her sleeve. "Are you two related?" she asked. "No," Celeste replied. "He snuck back back to fight and got shoved in a broom closet that tried to eat him. He had just escaped when i found him." she glanced at the girl's cat. "I hope your cat will be okay." Celeste had always felt terribly said whenever she saw animals that had been hurt in wars. "Is there anything I can do to help while we wait?"

Sydney wasn't sure how long she lay crying over Colin's body, but after what must have been 20 minutes or so, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Sydney picked her head up and saw Olivia, silently crying. Olivia lifted her hand off of Sydney's shoulder and whispered, "I'm so sorry, Sydney. Is there anything I can do?"

"No," Sydney replied, she could barely talk. She slowly got up and she met Olivia's eyes briefly, then she turned and ran. She ran as fast as she could. She had no idea where she was going.

Sydney ran into the Entrance Hall and out the doors. She ran down the grounds to Hagrid's hut. It was in the pumpkin patch where she finally stopped. She sat down and sobbed.

Sydney remembered that time on the train when she met Colin. She had been trying to find a compartment, and Draco Malfoy walked past her. He laughed at Drake, and called him a pathetic excuse for an owl. Colin had snuck up behind Malfoy and snapped a picture of Sydney with Drake. Malfoy insulted Colin and then left. Sydney and Colin had introduced themselves and they'd been friends ever since.

She remembered later on in the year when Colin had been petrified. Sydney had cried for a day after, she even skipped classes. But this, this was different. He was never coming back.

Sydney felt some raindrops and looked up. The sky had become dark and it was starting to thunder. But she didn't care. Sydney sat in the rain and cried.

"The closet tried to eat you? That's harsh."
You're pretty brave then, huh?

"Is there anything I can do to help while we wait?" The girl asked. Ana looked at Dory and then back at the girl.
"I'm not even sure what's wrong with him, to be honest. He's barely hanging on." She looked back at Dory and her eyes began to water. "He's been my only friend stick it out through everything here at Hogwarts."
The young boy put his good arm around her shoulders.

Must keep looking, can't stop looking.....Alanna mentally yelled in her head. Where WERE they? They have to be here somewhere,.... Alanna couldn't imagion Keenshu leaveing Trunces ide for a mintue, of course, she thought bitterly, look at what I'm doing, I've lost them. No, mustn't think that....Keep looking.

Alanna felt like every step was making her heart sink more and more, when she saw Keeshu laying there on the floor she thought she'd die. As she ran over too her though, she ssaw her move and releaf fluhed over her.
"Keenshu? You all right?"
" Ugh,.....Back off, Alanna, I'm fine....Where's Trunce?" She tried standing then fell again.
Alanna looked around for her friend, Trunce wasn't anywhere to be seen....Where the heck was he? If this was a joke of his.....
"I'm sure he's fine...." Alanna lied through her teeth. she held out a hand to help Keenshu up. "Let's get you to the Hospital Wing and then I'll look for him, okay?"
Keenshu wanted no help and insisted on getting up herself, she had that same stuburn face that that made Alanna know what she was going to say next.
"I told you i'm F-I-N-E, Fine, Alanna. But we have to find Trunce."

The girl's eyes started tearing up.
"It'll be all right, I know it." Celeste said reasuringly. "Your cat stayed alive during the fight, he's not going to leave you now, when you need him most." Celeste place her hand on the cat's head. Whoa. Celeste could actually feel the determination of the cat to stay alive. "He's not going to leave you." she said.
