I watched the movie with a mate who's seen the previous ones but never read the book.
At the end he revealed he was utterly confused about many things. He picked up the 8 or so hints that some-one was making Polyjuice potion, but couldn't remember what it did, so a bit was lost. He also thought Ireland lost the world cup as Ron kept talking about Krum being amazing.
I think for the movie you had to have Barty Crouch at the beginning, or at the end it seems weak that it's him disguised.
A lot of kids in the cinema semed to be pretty bored by the end, wanting it to end, not sure it could have been much longer really, though I'd have taken a LotR style 4 hour film.
My main problem with it, tho I did enjoy it, was that most of my favourite scenes were left out, but in most cases I understand why, as they weren't plot essential.
and that Dumbledore was portrayed badly, as someone said early, the the calm, knowledgeable rock I've read about.
At least Daniel seems to be able to vaguely act now.

lol, he still isnt brilliant tho.

i thought that both dumbledore and voldemort, who are very calm and collected in any situation (almost any for V) were far too emotional at some points

Yeah, and what point DD comes in screaming like a maniac, "Harry! Did you put your name in the goblet!" and practicaly strangles our poor hero. I don't think this actor really knows what DD is all about. I mean, he's a good actor, but he might be able to play Karkaroff better.

I guess, we should cut 'em a little slack. The director, well, this is his first film and I think that for a first film, this was pretty good.

Before the second task, the film got burnt up! we had to wait 5-10 minutes for them to get it back on.

We got a free movie pass afterwards though.

The movie was a bit rushed and confusing. probably not their fault.

I rather they cut more stuff out to make the important scenes clearer.

The book is so large that I did think it would be a good idea to make 2 movies as otherwise it would be impossible to cover the whole plot. But now I think they did a good job, thought of course, as usual, some scenes were cut out or reduced to a minimum while others (with lots of special effects) were almost too long.

They were going to make two at first, but the director of HP3 talked him out of it.
