While it would be nice if Peeves had a cameo or two, I can understand why they chose to leave him out. He wasn't in any of the previous films, so if they just threw him in there now, it would thougrally confuse anyone who hasn't read the books. So if they did have him in there, they would have to come up with some sort of explanation about WHY he is suddenly at the school, since in the "movie universe" he has not been there for the last three years. This would waste valuable screen time and would only deviate from the books even more by making unnecisary plot details.

And I would hardly call Peeves a "major character". I doubt that JKR has any huge plans for him in the books either, otherwise she would have insisted that they include him.

It's still disappointing that they left him out... I was really looking foward to him being in there.

Are you sure?

I thought I saw a rotund little ghost with a schoolboy's cap in PS.

They can always bring him in late. For stuff when he's actually important to the plot, like after Fred and George's departure in OotP.

I just figured out something today.

The pensieve scene may not be in GoF.

Bellatrix wasn't casted in time to be in GoF and she's in that scene. I just hope that they still have the scene with Barty Jr. in the pensieve or they'll have screwed up GoF worse than PoA.
