Words you'd never read in the HP books

Hi,

I just started reading Book V, so these fleeting thoughts of mine should be pretty safe from spoilers. Strictly speaking some of these could still pan out, though I think the chance is pretty slim.

---

Words you'd never read in the Harry Potter series:

...Voldemort, his chest heaving heavily as he struggled for one last breath, turned toward Harry and said, "Son...my boy"....

---

...It all came out before he knew it. "Will you marry me, Hermione?", asked Harry breathlessly.

---

...Expelled from Hogwarts, his wand snapped in half, Harry found himself eking out a living as a part-time, un-licensed driver for the Knight Bus Company for the next several years. In daytime, and behind Ginny's back, he helped smuggle flying carpets and other banned magical goods into Britain. He also visited Cho. When Hermione learned of it, she acted as he had expected. "How could you, Harry?", she said angrily. "How...how dare you!" But Harry only stared back blankly and made her promise not to tell Ron....

---

...Through bloodied eyes Harry saw one hooded wizard after another draw his wand, their collective lips already moving silently to deliver the final deadly curse. There was nothing he could do. Soon he would join Dudley's lifeless body next to him. No sooner had he shut his eyes one last time did he jerk them open again at a loud crackling noise coming from behind him. Two of the Dark wizards had collapsed, their faces burned beyond recognition. Aunt Petunia shouted at him, "Run, Harry, run -- now!" Sparks shot out from the wand held tightly in her hand. It was Harry's wand....

---

---

..."Look at this!" A breathless Hermione was waving a copy of the Daily Prophet at them. She read it out loud:
"As of tonight Dobby, the...(hmmh!)...extremist house-elf leader, has formally announced his plan to form the House-Elf Workers' Party for Liberty and Justice. 'We has the full backing of three dozen house-elf unions (and a few owls and goblins).' Dobby threatens (hmmh!) to proceed with industry-wide work stopage if their members are not paid hourly wages (and an annual pair of new socks). Affected wizards and witches have already promised to organize counter-protests in response, according to Ministry sources."

---

"Now, now, Arthur, as you well know, we simply cannot afford to have the Muggles know of our existence, " said Cornelius Fudge. There was a tone of impatience in his voice. He went on firmly, "Not when there's this crazed Muggle running around. What's his name? Oh, yes, Hux Molder. I mean, just look at the nonsense he told to the National Enquirer!" He tossed Weasley a wrinkled sheet of glossy paper.

...Hux Molder, the eccentric and self-proclaimed "investigator of Magical Powers", described to us the existence of a vast government conspiracy to "hide the truth from us." "They are here, walking among us. Our government has known about them for a long, long time: the existence of beings with magical powers. Yet they've lied to us." Molder believes that these magical people have split into two warring factions, one led by a "Lord Hihusunobinae", the other by "Master Don Bidore". Most shockingly Molder claims that the 911 attacks were perpetrated by "Dark Wizards bent on wreaking havoc in our world." When challenged to produce evidence, Molder would only say that "these beings, particularly the ones led by Bidore, systematically mop up after their own operations. They have powers to make witnesses forget what they've seen. I've been able to reconstruct pieces of their memory only through hypnosis".

---

Fudge, his brows now tightly furrowed, said in ernest, "You see the problem now, Arthur? The Muggle Secretary General has assured me that this...this Molder has but a cult following. Well, that didn't stop him from stalking a New York Times reporter the other day. Fortunately for us she reported him to the Muggle Police immediately. Nevertheles our DOM agents have had to place Memory Charms on him several times now. More than is allowed by the regulations, I might add."

---

The atmosphere at the wedding was spectacularly festive. It owed much to Dobby and his team of volunteer house-elves who delivered on their promise to set up an event "like no others Master Harry Potter has seen." In spite of multiple attempts, in an effort to distract himself, Harry had lost count of the number of layers on the enchanted wedding cake. "Where is Ron?" Harry had seen the other Weasleys but not Ron. Once again a pang of guilt surged in him, but he quickly pushed it back into the recess of his mind. There was no other way. Hermione would agree. He saw her near the front entrance, surrounded by quite a few admiring young women, mostly former classmates from the House of Gryffindor. As he approached her, Hermione excused herself and moved toward him. Harry gently pulled her to a corner. He could see that she knew exactly what was on his mind. "Harry," she said as she layed a hand on his shoulder, "he will be okay. It might take some time, but we've been through so much together, all three of us. I know Ron will come to understand. Cheer up, okay?" She gave him a light kiss on the cheek...

Oops...sorry, first post. The distinction between "theories" and "what ifs" isn't always clear. Theories are usually systematic explanations. What-ifs are conjectures of various sorts. What-ifs could be part of a theory (or hypothesis). In the Muggle world, anyway.

Allow me to rephrase some of them (without, hopefully, spilling the beans for those still on Book IV).

* WHAT IF Harry had been kicked out of Hogwarts? (a what-if that could lead to a theory)

* WHAT IF a few smart Muggles had been able to piece together tell-tale signs of magical intervention? (ditto)

* WHAT IF Harry and Hermione did have chemistry? (ditto)

i see waht your saying and you are quite right. what if's can and do lead to theories. the basic idea of the what if section is to get people to think a little differently. my goal in the section was to almost write a new story, or numerous stories, based on the waht ifs. so like if this would've happened, what would the story be instead of what it already is. yes, this is theorizing, but in a different way.

BTW, i like the what ifs you posted here, how bout posting them in the what if section. i think they could lead to very good discussion.
