I absolutely love the idea of Neville becoming the new herbology teacher :D.
I also think that Harry's misconceptions about Snape will be proved wrong in a spectacular manner, but with his dying words to harry being in classic Snape-like fasion. e.g "Looks like you won't grab all of the praise this time Potter!!"

I don't know that I could really see Snape giving his life to save Harry's, especially after seeing the way Harry's dad treated him. I'd think him more likely to give his life saving Dumbledore's, but yes, I do agree that Snape will not survive. I think I remember Rowling mentioning in one of the books that people who betray Voldemort won't survive his wrath, and Snape's turning spy is probably the ultimate betrayal.

I also doubt that Harry would be willing to fight for the Dursleys, though I guess I could see that happening, since Harry has a thing for saving people.

It does seem highly possible for Professor Lupin to become headmaster- that is, if he survives, but I don't think the installation would take place so soon. Prejudices take a long time to get over, and human beings generally aren't partiularly fond of change.

The others, however, seem highly possible. Now I can't wait for the next books to come out!!

I dont know about Lupin becoming headmaster. i mean while we all know that he is a good person/teacher. to the eyes of the wizarding world he is still a werewolf which may be viewed as him putting the lives of the students at risk. And although like u said that prejudices do change i dont think that they would in time for Lupin to become headmaster.

Although harry does greatlyt dislike the Durselys they are family at the end of the day, and i think that he does have some kind of loyalty towards them as they are the only family he has left, especially now that sirius is gone.

I think that we will see a lot more to snape. i mean he's a very contradictory character. while he treats harry horribly within lessons and things at hogwarts, he is still in the order, and is strongly trying to act against voldermort. So with regards to harry he is torn between the dislike he feels as result of harry's father, and the union they have in fighting for the same cause.

If Dumbledore dies or retires, god forbid, Mcgonagall would be next in line

Well since the last book i've become quite fond of Mcgonagall. If dumbledore was to die would the MoM be more likely to get one of the exisitng teachers to take over, or would they bring in someone new... like umbridge?

I personally think that the Durselys can expect some magical retribution from Harry when he leaves school, for all the misery they caused him. Just remember how much Harry wanted to curse Dudley in the street near the start of OoTp

Ambrosius you ideas are amazing!

I think you are very astute to bring the "Dickens factor" into play here. Snape could very well be a candidate for a redemptive sacrifice which would be very similar to the sacrifice made -for love I might add- in A Tale of Two Cities. And that character was a very disagreeable sort in the beginning. I also feel there is a history with Snape and Lily and that it is highly possible he once loved her very much.

Lupin as headmaster is a possibility. But his poor health when not actively a werewolf might present a problem. I think I am one of the hold-outs here wanting to see some truth to those James/Lupin- switched- places- before -Voldemort -attacked rumors. (please...no people yelling, "BUT JAMES CAME OUT OF VOLDEMORT'S WAND" here...I maintain the image of James came out, but there is still a possibility of some other magic there)

Is it possible Albus and Minerva are already "together" (and have been) and we just don't know it yet?

Anyway, I think all the ideas I've seen here are really great. :)

somehow I doubt Minerva and Dumbledore are together . . . I believe that in most stories, wizards of Dumbeldore's stature remain alone. (ie: Gandalf, Merlin, etc.,) well, merlin did have Nimue . . . but I'm not sure that counts. Anyway, matching up Minerva and Dumbledore just doesn't seem like something Rowling would do . . .
