The impossible battle

Postby menotyoo » Monday 20 October 2003 7:31:22pm

This may be a continuity error, or I could have misread, but I think it is impossible that Bellatrix and Sirius could have battled each other. Having both been imprisoned in Azkaban, I was under the distinct impression that you are put in there. We know Hagrid was in and then out, but he has no wand. Perhaps when the dementors set the DE's loose, they gave them back their wands? I know for a fact though that Sirius is wandless (unless DD got him another one) He could transform w/o a wand, but in PoA I read that he uses Snape's wand when they are returning from the shrieking shack. I know their is a thread elsewhere for discussion about Wormtail and Voldie's wands, but I just think that JKR or I have made a mistake. Can you help me out?

No doubt Voldemort has ways of getting his death eaters wands...I mean whats the point of a death eater without a wand.
And Sirius would need a wand to protect himself wouldn't he, so either he has gone abroad and obtained one or Dumbledore has got him one...either way he isnt gonna spend a year (Goblet of fire) on the run from wizards without aquiring a wand somehow is he...

Hagrid hasn´t got a wand because he was expelled, not because of Azkaban!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I mean that Hagrid does not have a wand that could be taken from him when he went into Azkaban.

Actually, I think Hagrid still has his wand pieces. When hes taking Harry to buy his wand, Hagrid tells Ollivander that he still has the pieces, and then he clutches his umbrella. In the first book he also uses his umbrella like a wand more than a few times. In the second or third book (cant remember which) Hagrid says hes been giving his pumpkins "a bit of help" and his umbrella is leaning against the wall. It even states that Harry had suspicions about Hagrid's old wand being encased in the pink umbrella. You've gotta admit, that would be priceless. A wild-looking giant dueling Death Eaters with a pink umbrella...

*giggles*

great idea by Hagrid that...I mean, its gonna be real useful if he ever gets in trouble with dark wizards...what wizard is gonna expect a curse to come out of a giant's pink umbrella....

what i don't get is why if hagrid can have his wand in 2 pieces in his umbrella it doesn't have the disastrous effects Ron's wand has when he broke his....although he did have that accident where he failed to turn dudley into a pig...

i think that hagrid probably did a better job of putting his wand back together in the umberella than Ron did as he only held his together with sellotape!
And like u said i dont think that all Hagrid's spells turn out quite the way they're supposed to.
