I've about decided that the only reason the two-way mirror was brought up was 1. to show us that you can't communicate with the dead like that, and 2. that other ways of communication other than owls and fires exist. I don't think that particular smashed mirror will make a comeback.

Do you not think though that if it was just meant to show us other ways of communication then JK Rowling would of just said 'Oh, nothing it got broken' as opposed to 'Oooh good question, theres your answer'

honestly, I haven't the foggiest idea... I see your point, but I think the "oohhh good question" could just as easily be her being glad someone picked up on the fact that the theory behind non-owl communication is something to question... I dunno.

I don't see Harry and Ron using it, MAYBE Lupin, or another adult OotP member...

I think I've seen something about how one student changes houses... how would it be if, like, Hermione did get put in Ravenclaw for some reason, and Harry and Ron are so distraught over not getting to see her as much, they give her one mirror and use the other one to communicate between common rooms?

I'm stretchin, I know... I sure don't see Luna using it (can't think of ONE good reason why she would)... one of the trio gets moved away, I can see them using it to communicate. keeping up with the Order, I can see. Ron and Hermione go back to Grimmauld Place and Harry goes to Privet drive, I can see them either suggesting through owl post early on that he fix the mirror and they can communicate that way (they aren't supposed to have owls flying around everywhere around Grimmauld Place anyway) or sending him another one... *shrug*

Who not? Its an excellent sistem to communicate without being evesdropped, and Harry and Co. are going to need a lot of that in Book 6.

I agree on that point Athena, I reckon that Harry is going to be too depressed to fix it on his own, without somebody egging him to do it.

Um...how are Harry and Ron or whoever gonna use the mirrors when Harry has 1, which is broken,(but can maybe be repaired). And didn't Sirius have the other one when he went through the veil. So how would two people communicate when there is only 1 broken mirror in the picture right now?

Giant Squid, I don't remember where I saw that someone will be changing houses... I think it was like I heard from someone that they heard it from somewhere... hmmm...

I only don't see Ron and Harry using it because, like I said, they are together ALL the time... unless it was something like what I said earlier about Ron and Hermione get the idea to use the two-way mirrors to communicate with Harry from Grimmauld Place to Privet Drive to avoid too many owls flying in and out of Grimmauld Place.
