Well now we pick out every little details from the books. The only thing we can be sure is wait for the next book to come out which who knows how many years it will take this time.

The stumbling from a room sounds to me like someone's throwing chairs and little tables out of his path.

If James'(or Lupin's) voice could be heard, the sound of the curse, if it was conjured at all, could have been heard too, even if the door was closed, I think.

i agree that there is something fishy about that whole night when they were killed.

JKR has kept it open by not saying that it was definatly james. but i have my doubts about all these theories you guys have.

i say that harry should have heard volie's voice saying the curse if he could hear the stumbling (unless the stumbling was happening when the curse was being said)..

the whole thing about the potters not being killed the same night is bogus, they were killed together, when hagrid came in the first book with harry after talking to sirius, i'm pretty sure he said that both of them were dead

Harry heard his father's voice for the 1st time that was why it was stated as a new voice. Harry heard his mum many times before hearing his dad. Maybe James, Lily and Harry were in the same room before James went outside the room (shutting the door) to stop Voldemort. That would explain why James could be heard and not the incantation Avada Kedavra. The stumbling sound could be either made by Voldemort or James.

perhaps the scene described in the quote is thus : James and Lily are in a room, and James sees Voldy coming and shouts to Lily to take harry, then as goes to the door to defend his family, voldy pops in...and as for the sound of only one curse, could the curse possibly hit both of them (james and lily) and kill them both with one curse????????????????

I know all the reasons that they might have died on the same night, hrmm, expect killing them both with one curse, that jsut didn't happen... he was in a different room, but that's beside the point...

I'm just thinking that it's very suspicious that JK didnt' say that it was Jame's voice, or have Harry seeing his Dad in the memory/vision/whatever... I mean, she was the one that made it in a seperate room... It didnt' have to be that way!

I just cant' see the point of making something seem so like one thing is happening, yet not confirming it, unless you have the intention of turning it around! After all, JK is renowed for making us believe that something if happening, or going to happen, then boof, it all changes, and nothingn is like we thought! Who would have picked Quirell as the bad guy, or that Sirius was really a good guy, or that Ginny opened that COS???

I just dont' think that she would have written it like that without some kind of ulteriour motive!

But hey, that doesn't mean taht anyone has to agree with me! And unless someone can come up with some definate proof, or a really good reason why it's not possible, that how I'm beleiveing it!!!
