And the prophecy about Harry and LV is a small one...Not a big deal, who cares what will happen to darkest wizard for a very long period...

She just haven't got anything big to predict,yet...I mean how interesting or whatever is predicting to bunch of kids what will they eat for lunch? But when comes the time, she'll do her job,I trust Dumbledore, and I don't think he kept her only to protect her from LV!

you know, I always got this funny feeling that Dumbledore was actually impressed with Trelawney's batting average of two predictions, as far as divination goes. He doesn't put much stock in the subject (he was going to do without divination at the school, but out of respect for the granddaughter of a great Seer, he saw her, and her prediction was the only basis that he hired her), so he doesn't expect much. I think he feels, like everyone else, that Trelawney plays herself up to be much more than she is, but she is better than most... she has had two true predictions.

As far as what Firenze says, the centaurs are much more interested in knowing what happens as far as the whole vast of human existance is concerned... not with one or two people, or even one or two nations. They probably even considered what happened with Voldemort before, big as it was, as being "trivial"... the great majority of humankind didn't even know it happened. And those who did were able to go back to their regular lives after only a few years.

So, I think Trelawney's slightly better than what Hermione and Ron thinks she is (a right old fraud) but she's not all she's cracked up to be.

I defintely agree with all that. I wonder if she'll ever make predictions again. Since Trelawney seems to be exclusively LV predicting (the Prophecy and the one about the servant rejoining his master) I think it would be an interesting plot line for Trelawney to make another "real" prediction, like a Harry Potter Dark Lord part II prophecy, I dunno.

You mean you wonder if she'll make the prediction that Harry will go evil?

I doubt it...

Ah nono, that didn't come out right, I meant Harry Potter vs Dark Lord. Like another prediction concerning both of them, like which one is going to bite the dust or something similar.

The 13 at dinner is an amazing observation. it really opens up a lot of possibilities.

i dont think trelawny would have a major role to play in the future as Harry can drop some subjects after Owl year and he obviously will drop Divination (as he mentioned in OotP)

Yeah, but she'll still be a teacher at Hogwarts and who knows maybe Harry will be at Dumbledore's office, and she'll come by to ask DD something and suddenly predict something like the I prophecy...I mean Harry doesn't need to be in class,so she could predict something,he could be anywhere...

I think it's plausible, but I just can't get past the fact that Trelawney's averaging 1 prophesy every 13 or 14 years. If she keeps up her impressive record, the next prophesy will happen when Harry's about 26.
