you know, I always got this funny feeling that Dumbledore was actually impressed with Trelawney's batting average of two predictions, as far as divination goes. He doesn't put much stock in the subject (he was going to do without divination at the school, but out of respect for the granddaughter of a great Seer, he saw her, and her prediction was the only basis that he hired her), so he doesn't expect much. I think he feels, like everyone else, that Trelawney plays herself up to be much more than she is, but she is better than most... she has had two true predictions.
As far as what Firenze says, the centaurs are much more interested in knowing what happens as far as the whole vast of human existance is concerned... not with one or two people, or even one or two nations. They probably even considered what happened with Voldemort before, big as it was, as being "trivial"... the great majority of humankind didn't even know it happened. And those who did were able to go back to their regular lives after only a few years.
So, I think Trelawney's slightly better than what Hermione and Ron thinks she is (a right old fraud) but she's not all she's cracked up to be.
