I dunno, I'm not sure if the prophecy should be read like that. The "other" could have meant someone else, or it could mean what it seems to mean, that either Harry must kill LV or LV must kill Harry.

BTW: In an interview with Dan Radcliffe, he says he thinks Harry is going to die.

the prophecy is incredibly straight forward. there can not be another meaning to it.

You know I do agree with Mint.
I have been watching this thread and nothing thus far has convinced me that the prophacy means anything other than what it says.

If it's possible to think outside the box, is it possible to think outside of the opinion?

I really think the prophesy is what it seems to be... but IF it's not, I like thinking about other possible meanings.

No its just people are confused with the language used in a prophecy. And the thing is if u read any medivil stories or any stories with "wise characters" in them - that is the language they use. And at the beginning of the thread it seemed that people were just not familiar with the word "One" and so on.

PS: I think that the time of riddles is over for the Harry Potter books. Somehow I got a feeling that next 2 books are gonna be very straight forward, because at this point JKR will give us the answers not more riddles. Like Matrix, u know? The first movie was all meaningfull and the last one was very simple and straight forward.

What do u guys think? ^-^

I think that if you are going to be like this, then you should try finding other areas of the forum and let us have our fun. We're not harming anyone, we're not building our lives around these theories being true, for most of us (I assume, it's this way with me, anyway), it's just fun to think about all the "what ifs?"

I am perfectly clear on the uppety language used, and what words mean, it's just fun to sit around and imagine what could possibly be in store, what things could possibly mean, etc. If you don't want to do that, by all means, don't, but don't take away our fun.

:-)

Athena's right, people aren't questioning the meaning of the prophecy because they're too stupid to understand it but because Jk leaves clues throughout the books about what may happen in the future and has stated in interviews that we have enough information now to figure out what will happen. We're not saying that there is definately a hidden meaning in the prophecy, just discussing whther there might be or not.
