Veelas...the 'menfolk' to be manipulated for war? :p

Postby Lizzy Bennet » Monday 9 June 2003 8:52:42pm

Everytime I read about the Veelas (and the effect they have on those with the Y-chromosome  ) it makes me laugh!!! Forget brain-washing the elves for battle, when in nearby contact with a veela, Ron (amongst others) seems all too eager to do all sorts of crazy things for them! LOL

I just wonder if veelas are going to be part of the story at a later point . . . first they were at the World Cup, and then Ron found out that Fleur is part-Veela, and that Fleur's wand contained a hair from a veela. How powerful are veelas over the male gender? What all could they get them to do? It strikes me as funny, and yet, they may, indeed, resurface in later books . . . what are your thoughts? :D

Well, if Fleur is to be a part of the future books, as we've heard she is, then it makes sense for her to be described in more detail, and thus, Vella's as well. Grr, just as long as she's not DADA teacher!

I do have a feeling that there's something bad about Veela's that we haven't been told yet. Maybe a connection to LV. They just seem a bit shady.

They seem alot like mermaids. Their beautiful and intoxicating to the ey but when you get close enough to them you find out they are quite the opposite. Hopefully J.K. doesn't turn the blokes into a group of salivating idiots.

The veelas, funny as it is, do seem to have power over the male gender . . . I can't see *why* they'd use that for evil, but I suppose, if motivated, they could.

Interestingly, Fleur is part-veela, and Madame Maxime is part-giant . . . veelas having mesmirizing powers and giants being known for being violent. Not to say either of these characters would turn bad, but certainly, these are two potential groups Voldemort may think of getting on his side.

Does anyone think Voldemort may try to get the veelas on his side? Why or why not? We've mentioned 'war of the house-elves' , what about 'watch out Jack, the veelas are BACK!' tee-hee-hee

It seems to me that veelas like to work on their own; are so bully that siding with others is not what they would do.

Oh, I definitely think that they could be used by LV. I mean, from what we've seen, they don't seem to...bright, and they'd be the perfect tool for getting people over to the dark side. And the same with giant, but we already know that most of them aren't too admirable.

yeah, i don't think that the veelas will go to voledemort, but they could, and with the giants, hagrand and maxamie went to talk to the giants, so i think that they might side with good, or at least maxamie will

LV could persuade the veelas turn against the people on side of good.like in the movies if some evil person wants a certain person on their side they pretty much brainwash that person into thinking that the people closest to them are just going to stab them in the back with some elaborate skem.kinda like in shakespears julius ceasar(s/p).just a thought though.

I dont know, but I jsut still dont' like it...

I can't see them fighting for some moral benifit, if Coldie convinces them that DD etc are bad guys, and I cant' see him being able to offer them anything that they would want either...

I can see were you guys are coming from and all i was just saying that it is possible b/c most people use general ideas and they kinda change it up to make unique and there own but somehow no matter what happens the bad guy sometimes seems to find a way to get who he wants on his team on it.but i thnk i agree with you though about it not happening it seems to predictable in a way
