animagi

Postby Ju-DedoH » Thursday 21 August 2003 12:22:32am

we know that all the marauders were animagi (thats four in one year ...) but in harry potters generation, we haven't heard of a single animagus (unless I'm wrong) that sounds weird. would you put a bet on someone turning out to be one :???: who :???:

This kinda goes with your topic, but I am wondering...do wizards get to choose their animagi form, or does it just appear? Did Peter choose to be a rat, or did destiny make him one?

I would think that they don't get to choose but it never really tells in the books.

And Ju, the fact that James and Sirius were able to turn into Animagi was an unbeliavable achievent from them. They were brilliant student and they worked very hard on it for years. I don't think a lot of people would have the same conviction not to mention courage (it was, after all, very dangerous) to do that even if they did have a talent. Yeah, so what I'm trying to say that I'm sure there are potential Animagi in Harry's generation (Hermione?) but that most likely they'll actually become ones only after finishing Hogwarts and after further studies in Transfiguration.

she wouldn't so anything illegal, though. besides, it took james and sirius 3 years to do it. underage wizards can't do it, and she'll be 17 in book 7 around september (according to book 3, her birthday is in september). she's smart, but so was james and sirius. i wouldn't doubt if fred and george could do it, though. they're smart enough, and definately sneaky enough. i think they would be the most likely canidates.

I dont know about at school, but i could definately see Hermione as becoming an animagi after Hogwarts. We know that at least one of the students becomes a teacher and most people its either going to Harry as DADA or Neville as Herbology. I agree with them, but if there could be more than one teacher, i could see Hermione being the Transfiguration teacher. Transfiguration seems to have been taught by pretty intelligent people (McGonagall and Dumbledore). We know that McGonagall is an animagi (she probably became one so she could show her students while teaching them about animagi), so i bet Hermione would do the same if she is the teacher. I mean, just look at all the effort she puts into her homework!

James and Sirius were the best students, and worked it out in their 5th year, helping Peter. Tom Riddle left his enchanted diary in his 6th year.

The others we know of is McGonagall (a cat), and Rita Skeeter (a beetle), though there is evidence Dumbledore can be a bee or a wasp (registered or not).

Sometimes it's talent over age. Hermoine has the talent, but will she make that choice?

As Ron, Hermione and Harry are so close I would think if one of them becomes an animagus, so would the others. I can´t imagine Hermione finding a way to do it and not tell the others. Also Hermione isn´t so law - abiding than she was in the beginning.
I could see her as an owl, and Harry, speaking parseltongue, as a snake. And Ron? Well, maybe......... a fox? Or a spider

wouldn't that be something if ron was a spider...he'd be afraid of himself!

Hrmm, I can't really see there being anymore animagi, even DD as a wasp of bee as someone suggested. Hermoine said that there were something like 7 registered ones this century, so obviously it's not a common thing, and why would JK have told us (via hermoine's research) that it's uncommon if she planned for there to be stacks of them in the books??? Just seems unlikely to me... :-?

I think you´re right - there´s too much going on already to fit that in. If they had to work out how to become animagi it would take ages - the next book would probably have 1500 pages. (that would be cool, thinking about it :o )
But I´d still love it!

P.S: Thanks for the compliment, Meg!

I'd love to see one (or some) of our folks to transform into an animal. But as stated here, it is very unlikely that Harry, Hermione or Ron will manage to do it.

However, Harry seems to be very powerfull (he escaped from Lord Thingy   ) several times, now. And with a little improvement, he could be near the most powerful wizard in the world...

Hermione does know a lot. And if she's teaching in Hogwarts in future (I don't think she is, cause she'll get SPEW further  ) she'll also be an animagus.

I don't know about Ron, but, who knows??? :???:
