Hermione and McGonagall?

Postby Jotomicron » Thursday 30 October 2003 7:40:32pm

So... that's it! Could there be some relation between them that we don't know yet?
I'll point my facts:

1. In the third book Hermione bought Crookshanks. Some say he is a Kneazle. I, myself, believe he is one. So... In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, under Kneazle, it's said that it is necessary a special authorization to have one. Harry and Ron were outside the pet shop and Harry (and therefore, us) don't know if she was in possetion of such a document.

2. Hermione was using the Time-Turner, and it was McGonagall that made it possible for her to have it.

3. In the fifth book (I think it is the major fact), at the opening cerimony, Hermione, Harry and Ron where sitted in the middle of their table. It was when Umbridge made that stupid speech. After it, Hermione explains that the speech meant the ministry was interfering with Hogwarts.
Some time after that, McGonagal asks Harry if he has listened to Umbridge's speech and, as he says Hermione's explanation. McGonagal then says: 'I'm glad you listen to Hermione Granger at any rate'.
How could she have listened to Hermione if they were very distant?

(Sry for the long post... I hope you understand my point of view...)

Edited to change title

Oops... I think I made a mistake... the title should be Hermione and McGonagall... Could some moderator correct it for me, please?

LOL, I must have read the first post 3 times trying to understand where Tralawney comes in

Hmm I dont think so.

1)Who are "some"? Probably noone knows for sure, and not many think that he is.

2)Did u notice ANY other student that is as crazy about studying as Hermoine? I mean who in there right mind would ask for extra classes just for fun??? Probably if Harry was just as study crazy McGonagall would do the same for him too

3)Harry and Ron think and talk very differently then Hermoine. And McGonagall knows that because she listens to Hermoine all the time. So she immediatly recognized that it must have been her who analized it.

Its like if u copy an essay from someone super smart in ur class - ur teacher will know it is not urs even before she reads the other one.

But who knows......may be they are.....related!!! :o

I know this is way far out there, and I have no hard evidence to quote from any of the books... but some where in the back of my mind, I always had a feeling that in some weird way Hermione is related to Hagrid. He always seems to have a very soft spot for her and they both are discribed with bushy brown hair. I know this really reaching... but it seems every one is quick to relate Albus and Lily because of the red hair... why not Hermione and Hagrid?

If Hermione was related to Hagrid wouldn't she have to be giant or part giant or something?

lol exactly!! Im sure there are alot of people with red or bushy brown hair.

and the reason why he has a soft spot for Hermoine is because
1)she is Harry's best friend and is nice to Hagrid
2)she is just as Hagrid made fun of because of her heritage. She has muggles for parents, he has a giant mother for parents.

Hermoine and Hagrid

Postby highsorcerer » Monday 3 November 2003 11:15:49pm

A relationship is possible (from her father's side), but consider Hagrid is 65 years old at the time of OotP (he was in 2nd year 50 years ago; both documented in CoS. That would have made him 12 at the time he was expelled, and three more years have passed). If they are related, it would be most likely that one of Hermoine's grandparents was a brother or sister to Hagrid's father.

But I thought that Hermoine's family were all Muggles?

Didn't she say somewhere in like the first book that she had no idea about the whole magical thing existing till she get her letter in the mail???
