A new Fawkes theory I hope...

Does anyone actually know why Dumbledore has Fawkes. Is it just a major coincidence that DD has the exact phoenix that gave Lord Voldemort and Harry their wand core or did DD physically go out and find him? We already know that DD was trying to find out as much about LV as possible so could he have found Fawkes to try and find out more about LV?

Hi, I'm not sure if I imagined this but didn't Fawkes find DD? I vaguely recall something from somewhere that DD said Fawkes helped him out of a tight spot.

I could just be making it up though!!!!

What I want to know if why the phoenix feather chose Tom. You know all that wand chooses the wizard stuff.

Could be symbolic. Phoenix's rise from the ashes, and Voldemort was as close to dead as can be and he came back.

I found this on the Mugglenet site:

Peter Humphreys for BBC Newsround: Who did Fawkes previously belong to and will he play a vital role in the next book?

JK Rowling: I am not going to answer about the role in the next books, which probably gives you a big clue, and he has never been owned by anyone but Dumbledore. You will notice that when Harry goes back in the Pensieve in this book, Fawkes is never there, and no, I am sorry, not in this book, I take that back. When Harry has previously seen the study with a different headmaster he saw it with Dippet and Fawkes was not there then. Fawkes is Dumbledore's possession, not a Hogwarts possession.

So what do you guys make of that?
