Malfoy On the Side of Light?

Postby Diamond Angel » Friday 31 January 2003 6:58:35pm

Okay, do ANY of you think Draco Malfoy will go on the side of light? Maybe become a spy, like Snape? I mean, I'm sure no one thought Snape would be a spy for DD when he was in school (as Sirius said that Snape "knew more curses than half the seventh years" when he came to school). So what about Draco? I personally think he will ... I dunno ... it just seems too obvious that he would be a Death Eater, so maybe JK will make some sort of twist ...

yes...him turning to the dark is not twisty enough....and having him turn good adds a more literary significance & more morals to the books...

This could all be well and true, however poor Draco has his EVIL ( )father pressuring him as well as any family things to live up to. He also hates all the teachers and mudbloods, etc in the school (although Snape hates Harry and he still is on the side of light, although it is for different reasons) Hrrmmm..... *looks confuddled at screen*.. :???: .. it's really all speculation.....

uhhhhhh, krum, that is a fanfic, or someone elses writing of the book, a very good fanfic, i've read it and it kept me entertained, but it is no proof unless it's in the ACTUAL BOOK, or JKR says it

Yeah I agree with 12321, a rumour can not be based in a fanfic.
I don't think Jo will make Draco good, that is Disney stuff. He is evil, he will keep being evil, and will be the enemy of Harry forever(well as long as both live) I think it is more probable that Harry will save Draco's life, just like his father saved Sirius. (I see more probable that (even if I don't like it), than a good and behaved Draco)

um...isnt this a theory

but i think draco will be on the side of the light....

he doesnt seem all that bad to me...i think what he comes out with right now is what his father has taught him to but i think when he grows up he'll get a mind of his own...i mean...hes a teenager...hes bound to rebel against lucius at some point...its not like lucius treats him all that brilliant...and why would he want to stay on the bad side when you consider who hes got for company...crabbe and goyle.....yikes...feel sorry for draco really....hes pretty intelligent and talented and the only people he can talk to are those two....no wonder he gets moody

Topic moved from Rumours to Theories section.

Personally there's not much that I like about Draco - he's mean and a psychological bully. Having said that, the only time we've seen him "in private" is when Ron and Harry used the polyjuice potion to change into Crabbe and Goyle's likenesses, and talked to him in the Slytherin common room. Apart from him talking down about Hermione, I though he seemed quite a reasonable person during that conversation, both in the book and in the movie (I liked the way the movie added a bit of a sense of humour to him as well when he said to Crabbe - or was it Goyle - "I didn't know you could read!"). So I guess he may have a decent side to him, and it would be nice to see that come to the fore.

well, he is not pure evil. But is very selfish, I just don0't see him becoming good and helping others from heartwill.

Maybe he's not going to help others from heartwill as you put it Neo, but maybe just as a rebellion against his father, like Sonkem said! But help is still help after all!

His relationship with his father seems rather strange to me... On one side, he treats his very badly, like we saw at that place in Knocturn Ally, but then he seems to tell him lots and lots of things. He's very well informed of most things that his father knows, even in the first book, and who's father usually tells that much improtant stuff to an 11yr old?

hey, maybe that's what happened with Snape aswell? His father was on the bad side, taught him everything he knows thus the coming to school knowing all those curses, and eventually, he started to think for himself, andrebel out against his dad. After all, it's not only teenagers that do that!

Could be, but then where do the school antagonist is, mean Harry needs another student to have as an enemy, and Draco is just perfect.

Point, but not if it happens right at the end of the last book?
You know in movies, where you get to the point where everything seems to be lost, but then, someone, who used to be evil, comes around and gives the good guys that single piece of valuable info... or whatever!!!

Well yes, but movies are movies; and what Jo tries is to create another world, so she tends to represent human attitudes as best as she can, so thinking Draco suddenly will become good and will help Harry would be in very special circumstances (which I believe are not going to happen)

I dunno... Snape turned after all???

maybe he realises all the pain and hurt he's caused or whatever! Almost all people have some good in them after all! I would say all people, but then these are also characters in a book, and we are always lead to beleive that the main bad guy like voldie has no good in him at all!!!
Maybe that little bit of good in Draco will come out just like it did with Snape?
