CROOKSHANKS

Postby Broken Machine » Wednesday 2 April 2003 4:02:58pm

Does anybody think that Crookshank is really a witch or wizard? I have the feeling that it will probably be Miss Fig. The night that Harry first see's Sirius in the shape of the dog and thinks it's a grim he is on the same street as Miss Fig's house. Now we all should know that Miss Fig is a cat lover who has tons of cats at home so it should only make sense that she should become a cat. later at Hogwarts Harry spots Crookshanks from his window walking with Sirius as a dog near the woods. Also the fact that Dudly had knocked Miss Fig over with his remote control car and broke her leg could attribute to Crookshanks tail being so mangled. Just a theory of mine. Tell me what you think.

Oh P.S. I think the Ministry of Magic is doing a horrible job registering all the witch and wizards that have the ability to transform into animals.

Oh, and the lady at the pet store said that she's had Crookshanks for a really long time. If she's had Crookshanks for a really long time then how can Mrs. Fig be Crookshanks. D'you see what I mean?

Crookshanks

Postby Broken Machine » Thursday 3 April 2003 1:52:52am

I don't know Hermoine. I have analyzed a few clues that would lead me to believe that Figg is a witch and has most likely been gaurding Harry while living near by Privet DRive as well as babysitting him sometimes. At the end of gGOF Dumbledore requests a few people. One of them happens to be Arabella Figg. Even though we don't know Miss Figgs firts name I'm sure that it's her. Again at the beginning of GOF Arthur Weasley borrows a tent and when Harry enters he notices its furnished in the exact same style as Mr's Figgs house including the smell of cats. Arthur says he borrowed it from Perkins but maybe it's a sign that all wizards and witches design their houses when their hiding as muggles in a standard form. Of course when the pet shop owner says that she's had crrokshanks for a very long time it could be a small fib since people will tend to do what they have to do to get close to Harry without him realizing it. The only discrepency that I found about crookshanks was that in the book they refer to Crookshanks as he. But that could be taken out of context. Or maybe Mrs. Figg is a cross dressing wizard. Is has been known that some wizards prefer to wear dresses like the guy at the beginning of GOF that enjoys the cool breeze.

I really don't think that crookshanks is an animagi. If he were, then why didn't he show himself when they were at the shrieking shack in book three to help confirm what Sirius was saying was true.

Sonkem, that's a segment out of one of the fanfics on of the guys wrote in the forums =P

neway, Voldemort always said that he couldn't get to Harry while he was with the Dursleys... obviously Dumbledore had sum enchantments in circulation.
Since Mrs. Figg is part of the "old crowd", obviously Dumbledore put her there to guard Harry.

I don't think we need another animagi... so many already
Besides, the onli other animal that pops up as a wizard/witch on the Marauder's map is Mrs. Norris

Never once has Crookshanks turned up, and he's everywhere

No, Muscat . . . it was in the books, I remember reading it, I just don't remember which one it is. I could hunt up the exact book number and page number if you don't believe me once I get home. :D

crookshanks

Postby Broken Machine » Sunday 20 April 2003 5:00:03am

wow what a turn out. it does actually say in ss that mrs figg couldn't watch harry on dudly's birthday because it was one of her cats that she had tripped over and thats how she broke her leg. dudley had also knocked her down while she was crossing the street. However now that I think about it witches and wizards aren't easily injured or else they wouldn'r be able tm play quidditch so often since they fall from high places and what not and seem to be perfectly fine later on. Therefore if mrs figg broke her leg tripping over her cat then she is a muggle. However it could be some kind of dillusion to throw us off and figg had gone off to do something else and possibly hurt herself in the magical world. As for crookshanks our Hermione makes a very good point. In fantastic beasts and where to find them the Kneazle is most likely the animal that crookshanks is:

(Excerpt) The kneazle was originally bred in britain, though it is now exported world wide. a small catlike creature with flecked, speckled, or spotted fur, outsize ears, and a tail like a lion's, the kneazel is intelligent, independent, and occassionaly aggressive, though if it takes a liking to a witch or wizard, it makes an excellent pet. the kneazle has an uncanny ability to detect unsavoury or suspicious characters and can be relied on to guide its owner safely home if they are lost. kneazles have up to eight kittens in a litter and can inbreed with cats.

This explains a lot and leaves a lot for the imagination when it comes to book five Such as what is the significance towards finding its master home. Hmmmm.......
