Lilly's relatives are alive, but what about Jame's relatives?

I mean there has to be some distant relatives that would claim Harry.

Did Voldie selectively killed them?

In book 1 Harry looks in the Mirror of the Erised and sees a whole bunch of people (a.o. with green eyes), supposedly his family

The Harry realted to DD is just a theory, and based in the book the Dursleys are his only familiy, which means there must be very few of the Evans alive.

Dumbledore says that at the begining of book 1.....they are the only family he has left now.....and he cant be meaning only family who would want him that are left now because they dont want him.....so it must be only family full stop.

i mean....uncle vernon still has a sister that we know of...aunt petunia never mentions any family on her side....anyone on uncle vernon's side is not related to harry....

the people he sees in the mirror are his relatives but how do you know that they arent all dead too....he sees his mum and dad in there and we know they are dead....

So Voldie went out and picked aaalll of Harry's relatives, even the very very distant once, and killed them.

And Im sure that not all of them were gonna take Voldie head on (like James and Lilly), Im sure most of them were just hiding and were pretty average people.

This makes me think that may be there was a prophacy about Harry or smth - to make Voldie care about his relatives so much.

Hrmm, just because the rest of Harry's relatives aren't alive doesn't necessarily meanthat Voldie went around and killed al of them off, does it? I mena, they could have died from other reasons, no? Maybe James only had a very small family, and those people in the mirror may have been been from quite a while in the past??

I think that the quote Sonkem put in is just too specific. If JK had written 'the only family that can take him in', or 'the only family around here', then maybe he might have had more... but 'the only family he has left' pretty much means that no one else alive is related to Harry, right??? :???:

well you can imagine how none of lily's relatives could be around....they were all muggles with short life span as far as we know....quite feasable they could all be dead by now.....then there are the potters....well perhaps voldemort did kill them or perhaps it was a small family anyway...voldemort does seem to have something against potters though....

I agree Sonkem!

I mean, we dont' know why there arent' any of them around, and I really don't think that we will specifically find out either... I just dont' necessarily think that we should assume that it was because Voldie went around and killed them all!

Also, I dont' know why, but I get the feeling that all Lily's relatives weren't muggles... I know that her sister, Petunia is a muggle, and I don't think that her parents were witch/wizard either, but I think that further back.. there were defiantely witches and wizards there! :grin:

I think Lilly's relatives are muggles...I know that there is some secret about her but I think its just cause she is just really special.

Small family? Why? they all always had 1 kid? hmmmm - i dont thinks thats true. Than even if there was 1 kid - like a boy, what about girl's relatives.....

Anyway. I just think that may be his relatives don't know that they are his relatives. That would be the easiest explanation. :razz:

Well, a good portion of they would know it, as they would be Potters aswell... James parents would be Potters, and His Dad's parents... and since the name Harry Potter is so well known in the wizarding world, I think that anyone with a connection to him would have been eager to tell people about it...

Just like as soom as anyone is even very distantly related to a celeb they feel the need to tell allt he people they know about it... eg, a fifth cousin's girlfriends father's related to the guy who used to work for the president... you know, that type of thing!!! :grin:

but dumbledore quite clearly says the dursleys are harry's only relatives....dont you think if there were members of the potter family around hed have found them, they are a wizarding family after all, wouldnt they all have gone to hogwarts and therefore Dumbledore would know who they were or could find out and therefore could trace them....

im betting that because james and lily knew voldemort was hunting them dumbledore would have been researching relatives just incase....

And good point, if they were witches/wzards, they would ahve gone to Hogwarts (or one of the other shoccol!) and DD could have found them that way!
