Choki - well, there are couple of options.

1)If you didn't reformat your computer yet - then copy your DVD program into a CD!! right away!! So you won't have to install it.

2) You just need your computer to recognize the the DVD drive - and thats included in the "computer drivers" software - which u should have (its different from DVD veiwing program). THere are free DVD softwares out there. um

I remember that I got one from one of the DVDs I bought...I believe it was the first Matrix! Its called PCFriendly - and it was better then my original software. Just rent that DVD and put it into ur Computer. (I hope they have that software in all of the copies of Matrix...im not sure though)

3)...buy a new one? But im sure option 1 or 2 will work instead.

Yes, as Mint has mentioned, you should have had some kind of disk with the drivers on when you bought the DVD ROM originally or if the DVD came already installed on your PC you should have been given a driver disc by whoever sold you the PC. It seems that some retaillers can be sloppy about giving you all the driver discs though. Plus, even if you did have them originally, it's easy to lose or mislay these things though, (and if you buy a PC second hand you are taking an even bigger risk of not getting all the necessary driver discs).

Whatever the situation, hope is not lost. The Sony CRX300E is a retail version of the CRX300A. You should find all you need including drivers, manual, etc here. :)

Pinkyprincess and Jotomicron, thank goodness for your Number 4 Cookies. :-) There was a lightning storm in my area on Boxing Day...26th December for anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas :) and I'm pretty sure my broadband modem/router has had something burnt out. Currently trundling along the information superhighway in my old 56Kb/s dialup modem. Was only about 3 months ago that broadband started here too, so my poor router had such a short life - but a happy one. :-)

It seems like the retailer didn't give me any backup CD for the DVD player though...I only have that CD-RW CD and some other backup.
But my cousin had reformatted the driver to prevent hackers, so the security is no problem...

It is just that I can't play MPEG-2 files using the DVD video software in the CD-RW software. Thanks folks. You don't have to worry about me anymore. My cousin will help me to find a suitable DVD software (she knows how to fix computers so I will leave it to her.)
*sigh* I'm such a computer idiot...

Thanks pp for your No. 11 hit
