Funny Parts in Book 5

Fred & George's exit from hogwarts was hilarious!!!!!!
Definitly no. 1 in my book.

A close second was Magonagall's reactions to Umbridge. Esp. during the class evaluations.

I absolutely loved the class evaluation (I keep reading it over an over again). But my favorite part is in the Careers Advice. That it soooooooo cool!!

And I also liked when Prof. Marchbanks (I think I misspelled it... ) says that s/he (can't remeber gender - shame on me ) saw DD making things with a wand s/he had never seen before: that meends, s/he is soooooo old...

I liked the Weasleys' exit, McGonagall and Peeves' tag team against Umbridge, But I really cracked up when I read Petunia say:

They guard the wizard prison, Azkaban.

That was good stuff!

I never thought of it as funny, but now that you think about it, it does seem funny that a person of such a starched manner would have knowledge of Azkaban!

I just finsihed rereading the fifth book ilke an hour ago, and found the parts i thought were funny the first time to be even more hilarious this time! I really laughed at the part at the end with the daily prophet is telling about voldemort returning to power and they quote fudge as saying, "We believe that the dementors are currently taking directions from Lord---Thingy."

What I like about McGonagall is that with her, respect must be earned. Harry has her respect, from his Quidditch abilties to his history of fighting evil. Umbridge had none. She treated Umbridge like she was insiginfigant (which she is) the entire book. It takes a lot to get her temper up, but when she loses it, you don't want to be on the other side.

She'll follow up. Harry being an Auror is a personal crusade now. Harry might be in for some tough times being coached by McGonagall nightly, but she's going to demand it, and Harry will follow through.

I also stoped for a minute or so to allow myself to laugh!!! Lord Thingy is indeed the greatest name anyone could call Voldemort!

My favorite line is towards the beginning of the book when they get their book lists and Ron learns he's Prefect....when Mrs Weasley is saying something to the effect of that everyone in the family has become prefects and Fred or George retorts with, 'and what are we, the next door neighbors?' or something to that effect. I thought that line was hysterical.

But I love the scene with Harry and Big D while he's egging Dudley on. And I love any scene where the professors do something to undermine Umbridge.

Well, i have to say the weasley departure. It was hilarious, plus the fact that i hated umbridge with a passion.

I don't usually actually laugh aloud while reading even if it is a humerous part
but I did laugh out loud when Professor Flitwick thanked Umbridge for getting rid of the fireworks for him and said
"I could have taken care of it my self of course but I wasn't sure I had the authority to do so."

That is a hard one because they were all great parts. I think that the Weasleys and their pranks definately made the book more enjoyable, but I voted for the professors and their subtle defiances against the dear Umbrige. Especially McGonagall telling Peeves which way the chandeler unscrewed and how the teachers "dealed" with the Weasleys fireworks issue.

i picked Mcgonagalls and Umbridge's slaging matches. i love mcgonagall and thought she was superb

Ron's 'Accio brain', that was amazing. I couldn't stop laughing when I imagine all those Death Eaters staring at brains flying! And then McGonagall and Umbridge, just perfect, as well as Phineas's speech about teenagers...

But that 'Accio brain'... LOL

yes that was tremendous!! Phineas easily is the best Slytherin character
