Flower Names

Postby isasniffelus » Wednesday 23 November 2005 12:34:32pm

Have you ever wondered??? Petunia and Lily: Flowers
Then there are the Blacks: all have star names but one: Narcissa.
Can anyone tell me why? Do you think N. is a true Black???

I've actually thought about this too, the flower part. I think with just one book left, JKR might just like flowers. There hasn't been reference to them really in the book being flowers.

The star thing is a new idea, at least to me. Narcissa doesn't seem as into the dark arts as Draco and Lucious. But then again, Sirius wasn't either. I think that JKR might just name her characters after things, to make it easier on herself, because then all her characters don't have common names.

Well yes, agreed. But they are still both quite nice names. I'm sure JKR was just looking for some nice names for them and came up with just the ones she wanted. She's quite the expert on names, I've heard.

I agree. I mean what is she going to name book 7? Harry Potter and the Doom of the Flowers? She probably just wanted nice names.

Maybe... On the other hand, maybe Narcissa is related to Lily and Petunia?

Lol. Or maybe Lily and Petunia had a sister who became a death eater.

Narccisa parent's were Black's. Lilly's parents were mugles.

Check this Black family tree

Don't really think they are related.

Yeah, plus J.K.R clearly stated that Lily was the only witch in her family.

I've thought the same. But have you got the slightest idea HOW they could be related?
I also think that Draco is the product of Narcissa and SNAPE! (for further detail see topic "Has Snape got a son?")

Haven't really thought about it... It should be something complicated taking into account that Narcissa is a pureblood and Lily and Petunia are muggleborn.

For me Draco looks too much like Lucius and too different from Snape to be Snape's son. (There is a similar theory that Harry is Snape's son which seems wrong for the same reason.)[/quote]

Agreed.

But, you know, JK said in this interview that Snape has been loved by someone. Since I don't think she was referring to his mother who could it be that loved Snape? I only know that thinking of book 6 Narcissa trusts him a lot and hugs him. Oh-and she knows exactly where he lives which no one else knew...
By the way, never would I think that H is S's son!!!

Where did JKR say that? I would like to read that if possible.

Did she say Snape loved someone or someone loved Snape? If it was the first did Snape love Lily but was nasty to her because he liked her?

I believe it was his mother since I can hardly imagine a mother not loving her child. I suppose that it's possible, yet... she must have loved him, I think. Who else could?

Lily? Why did she protect him so much against James and his mockery(hope I spelled it right)... After the way he treated her?

Hmmm...but on the other hand I myself find this quite hard to believe...It was just a thought anyway...

The adress is: http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/extra ... views.html.
There you can read everything she said.

There is another thing that puzzles me: When asked "Is Loona Snape's daughter?" she replied: "No-he hasn't got a daughter." Interesting answer, isn't it? Because it automatically leads to the next question: HAS HE GOT A SON?

She said he has been loved by someone, not that he's loved someone. And by the way, I just don't think she was referring to her mother. I can't tell you the reason, but I agree that every mother loves her son...

Tell me what you think of it after reading the interview...
I'm really looking forward to it!
