A detour?

What if Harry and Ron didn't make it to hogwarts at the begining of book 2? What if the car went astray w/ the two of them in it and they didn't make it to hogwarts for the start of their second year?? what would they have done, where would they have gone, would they have survived at all?? what are your thoughts?

given the fact that Ron is from a wizarding family and knows about the vast majority of stuffs in the wizarding community, I bet they could have flagged down the knight bus...

ok, so lets say they did catch the knight bus and gotten to hogwarts. what would've happened to them when they got there. i mean, they wouldn't have gotten off free would they???

If they had used the Knight bus, they would have only been in trouble (and probably less trouble than actually happened) if they were late. I'm guessing that if they'd explained things to Stan and Ern, they could have made Hogsmeade a priority destination and gotten there in a few BANGs (depending on whether there is a distance limit, and what that limit is per BANG!). Good thinking about the Knight bus - I wonder why Ron didn't think of doing this instead of using the car, which risked and resulted in getting Mr Weasley into trouble with the Ministry of Magic, plus the risks of the car being able to travel such a long distance. Of course, Harry wouldn't have thought of it as he didn't know about the Knight bus at the time. One thing's almost for sure though, if they hadn't used the car, Ron and Harry would have been eaten by Aragog's family!

true, true...w/o the car Aragog would have gotten them...isn't it lovely how JKR's plots just fall together like a puzzle, with out one piece the picture is incomplete??? Amazing woman she is...and my idol...lol
