What would have happened if The Sorting Hat had insisted on sorting Harry into Slytherin? Or what if Harry had become friends with Draco Malfoy instead of Ron during their first journey on the Hogwarts Express? Wander into alternative Harry Potter universes here.

What if Hermione still took Divination?
She wouldn't rub it in as much (ex. when Harry & Ron had homework the first night and Hermione had none)
She would sound a lot crazier because she might believe stuff like how Harry was inexplicably going to die every day.
She might have done badly because she probably would have try to interpret her dreams/predict her future instead of making it up as Ron, Harry, and I imagine a lot of other people.

I think Hermione's quitting of Divination shows her lack of knowledge of things that take more than abosrbing up the techniques in books...Divination takes moxy...it takes either a God given gift, or years and years of hard work to achieve...and Hermione's greatest fear was of failure (we see this in PoA during the boggart) and we also see her unwillingness to take risks at task in which she is not guranteeded to be successful (we see this in PS where she is afraid while learning to ride a broomstick)...
So if Hermione still took Divination I bet she wouldn't be A, number one student in everything...
