If cedric had taken it then Harry would have seen it was a portkey right away and he would have told someone.

Then it would follow one of the following:

1) There is a way to find out where the portkey have sent Cedric and, after HP have told DD what he had seen, DD went to save Cedric. DD would fight with Voldmort and then... well, it's just a "what if?"...

2) No one could know where Cedric was, and, because of his personallity, Voldmorto (by means of Wormtail, or something) would have killed Cedric and still be bodyless. hen, we must have a 4b book to make Voldie meet Harry and gain his body.

well even if there xas a way of knowing where the portkey lead cedric, DD would most surely be late since wormtail killing cedric is the first thing that happens, but then DD would fight VD singlehanded, and there would be no books after (well who knows, but DD has style)

erm, he would've died. harry would be like 'woa' and then think that it was part of the tounament. he would've waited untill the walls went down to end the tournament (or until someone came and got him) he would've gone out walking (none of the teachers have found cedric yet and harry still thinks it was all a part of the tournament.) so he is out walking all by himself, mad that he didn't win sees barty, and all goes the same from there.

But what if dumbledore went back in time so he would stop harry & cedric from touching the portkey.. then cedric wouldntve died and all the aftermath junk... but dumbledore would know that voldemort was back!

Knowing LV, I think V would have the portkey sent back, and Harry would think it was a fake trophy. He would assume it was another obsticle, and look elsewhere.
