Which DADA teacher is your favourite?

Postby Guest » Sunday 16 November 2003 4:55:22am

Which DADA teacher is your favourite? As this is pre-OotP, the choices are mainly Lupin vs. Moody. While Lupin is an excellent and way cool teacher, "Moody" is my favourite. Why? Well, I just enjoyed the Malfoy the Bouncing Ferret scene. What about you? Quirrell, Lockheart, Lupin or Moody?

For me it is Lupin. Moody is too gruff and paranoid. In fact Lupin is among my favourite characters, I like his mild manner.

If I had to chosse one of them to be my teacher, it would be Lupin, of course... Look all the funny stuff he did with the students!!! And he was fair with them (as far as we know...). However, Lockhart was also a great character... He wasn't telling the truth about his histories and so on, but I think that he was interesting: just pretending to be the most brave man in the earth, he gave us good happy moments!

Lockhart certainly was an enjoyable character and I really loved the Cornish Pixies scene in the book - I think it's one of the funniest moments in the first 4 books and still makes me smile now when I think about it. I really liked Moody's style of "constant vigilance". But Lupin is the top choice for me too - he seemed to have a great way of teaching by example and practice, and I liked the way that he took time out to teach Harry how to effectively use the Patrous charm, with patience yet determination. Plus, being a werewolf, he's a bit of an outsider and a little misunderstood and feared by some.

Hmm . . . I think as a character I like Lockhart the best, as a person, I like Lupin, and as a teacher, I like Moody.

Wait . . . who were all the DADA teachers? Let me see if I can remember:

1st year: Quirrell
2nd year: Lockhart
3rd year: Lupin
4th year: Moody
5th year: (well, as this is supposed to be a phoenix-free room, I can't mention the fifth year teacher, can I? :-()

I wonder who the 6th teacher will be?

I like Prof. Lupin the best... hes so down to earth and a seriously fair teacher. He knows what he is doing and does whatever seems right. and it always is. He helps his students instead of just telling them, and he takes part in their activities eg. catching the hogwarts express.

Prof. Moody was just that....he just sounded too angry and evil in the books...even though he was locked up for a year.

I think i'd have to say Lupin aswell, while moody was great and really exciting he wasnt the real moody so i cant choose him.
Lupin really appealed to the students and taught them a lot fo the spells that they have needed later on in the books.
