Information Kiosk

Postby AccioNiffler » Saturday 30 August 2003 4:01:45am

It has become quite apparent to me that a lot of witches and wizards are dabbling in a muggle education. And I was inspired by a post written by Meg (
Meg Boyd wrote:6. Is there an essay writing service here????? Arrrggghhh
) to begin this thread.

This thread has been established to help out people like my good friend Meg who are feeling frazzeled by the hassles of the muggle education system. Here, you will be able to find help with any subject that you inquire about for a small price. Unlike many other establishments in the vicinity, the Information Kiosk will be run on a barter system, not a monetary system. Before things really get kicked off though, I think that I will need a staff.

I will need a person specializing in the following subjects:
Math
English
Social Studies
Science

There are many sub-catagories of each subject. If you are good at any of those also, there is a place for you here at the Information Kiosk. Persons with cross-subject specializations are also greatly sought after. We are looking for people who are happy to help and willing to offer their services. Your pay will be based on commission, so the more you help, the wealthier you become.

Once we have become at least half staffed, I will place an advertisment in the DAILY PROPHET so that the world can flock here with their many questions! :D :D

i'll help put w/ the math part. last year i was named honorable mention all-state for a wisconsin state wide math competition. i am currently in AP Calculus, and have a good understanding of everything prior to that class (i.e. geometry, any algebra, pre calculus) and a generaly understanding of most calc concepts. if i can't answer your questions, i con surely find the answers, or i'll just figure them out some way or the other.

Well, azn, you can help out with both since you're only the second employee so far! And I agree with you that Zonko's isnt the perfect place for this thread, but I put it here because it was semi-roleplaying with the salary and bartering system and such, hehe. But I do see how it could fit into st. mungos once it actually got going

hm..i see whut you mean, but thing is, most ppl on this forum probably won't know about Kiosk unless they're a frequent visitor of zonko's since this thread is pretty misplaced. anywayz, perhaps, instead of advertising in only zonko's, you may want to inform ppl in the great hall or the common rooms or something...

ooo...and i'll just do science then, since someonez already doing math

oooh...English for me! I have a fair sense of grammar (but that has since floated away after living in Hick Town, USA) but I really like the literature and symbolism (all the stuff Jane taught) etc...I also am fair at history too...and if there are any music theory students out there I can lend a help on key ways to remember basic theories such as ear training and intervals.

Excellent, now we have someone for each of the four major subjects, and some of the other minor subjects. Now I'm assuming that you are all wondering about yor pay (especially you I'm betting, Choki, lol  ), so let me explain how it works. For every person you help, you recieve one galleon. If you hlep over three peopl in one day, you get a bonus 5-10 sickles dependig on how many others you help. When the customers pay for the help you've given, you are free to decide the price. I of course will be monitoring that so no one is over charged. One thing to remember about the Information Kiosk is that we are set up on a barter system, so if a customer has no money, they can pay you in chickens or angel cakes, or dung bombs, whatever they have. But of course how many of that item you charge is up to you, its really a judgement call.

The problem that I am next addressing is the placement of this thread. It really should be in St. Mungo's because it set up to help people, but it is set up tto be more fun, like the other Zonko's threads. What I think I will do is post a new thread in St. Mungo's and the great hall informing everyone about the Information Kiosk, where they can find it, what it's for, etc. unless anyone has any better ideas, because if you do, fire away!

well marcus, I was planning on having choki as our head of science, but I think that it is a very important subject and is worthy of two employees assigned to it. I think that you two could work out which areas of schiences you would like to be in charge of. I would love to have you on he team though Marcus, so welcome! :welcome:
