The Time-Turner

Postby Phoenix in the Ashes » Sunday 17 February 2008 1:03:14am

New scenario discussion. This is the synopsis:

When a group of muggle students in London find a small, mysterious hourglass hidden in the garden where they walk every day, none of them can foresee the adventure that they are about to embark on. As they make their journey through time, they must avoid the mysterious Ministry and their cloaked soldiers. The hooded beings seem to possess strange powers and are determined to follow the muggles through time and prevent them from fulfilling their destiny, whatever that may be.

The start of this RPG is set in May 1996

I wasn't sure what to put for house so I just chose the one that my character would be if they were a wizard. Ravenclaw.

Of course. I just pulled a random name out of my head. and it turned out that I really like it. I like it even more now that Duckie has imformed me that John Tucker was the name of the first African-American. Which is pretty cool. I mean, what are the odds of that?! :o :D

Actually, Godric, I'm not sure if it was John Tucker who was the first African born in America. I knew the name sounded familiar and I googled it to check. It's from that movie, John Tucker Must Die. I think the name I was thinking of, the first name was Tucker and the last name was something else.

I applied to be Sarah Walsh. I figured that would be a good one for me, since my name is Sarah.

I used some previous posts in the scenario to complement my time travel piece, I hope you don't mind.

Just to make something clear, this isn't the exact same type of Time-Turner that Hermione used in PoA. For the purposes of this RPG, the Time-Turner that she had was not one of the stronger ones. The one she used worked very simply, simply taking back time one hour with every flip of the hourglass-shaped pendant.

In my opinion, that would not be the extent of magical powers in respect to time. They would not give their most powerful store of time-turners to a thirteen year old witch, after all.

What I'm getting at here is that the one John found is one of the most powerful, perhaps the most powerful time-turner in existence. You'll notice that the scenario is set close enough to the time when all the time-turners at the Ministry were destroyed? That was for a reason. Maybe someone knew that that was going to happen, and hid the time-turner to keep it safe.

The main point I'm trying to make is that we don't know the limits of this thing's power. It's almost certain that it's time travelling properties don't match that of the Hermione's time-turner, as John only went back half an hour.

If you noticed, at the time John was fingering the pendant he was also very much wishing that he had not been so stupid on his bike. One could say... that he was wishing he could go back in time to stop it, though of course not literally, as that's impossible, right?

Does Linda know her father? Maybe he was, or is, an Unspeakable.

that is a spectacular idea! okay, linda's father was an unspeakable who had given the time-turner to her mom before linda was born. then her father got captured by death eaters, and when he didn't give them any information, they went for linda's mother.
