Thestrals

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

perhaps we are all talking this way too literally...

perhaps you don't need to actually have your eyes open and SEE death...perhaps you juts need to experience death...a great loss that really hit you hard...

I aagree... 'cause that would explain why he didn't see thestrals after all the other deaths. It has to hit you hard. He was a baby and couldn't understand with his parents, and the death of LV's posessee couldn't have been too tragic to live through

Something i just stumbled through while re-reading the 4th book...
Im not going to quote the book, because im too lazy to go get it, but it goes something like this...
Harry and Cedric take the portkey to the graveyard...blah blah blah...and the Wormtail comes and Harry's scar hurts like nothing else. Then Harry CLOSESE HIS EYES because of the pain, and while his eyes are closed he hears the Avada Kedavra, and Cedric is killed. He opens his eyes and seems him already dead, but didnt actually see him die.
I know this is kinda breaking the thread of conversation, but i just couldnt contain myself. This might have already been mentioned somewhere, and if i missed it sorry. Anyway, just wondering what everybody else thinks on this.

Don't worry what we think when you write your posts. It is right to say what you feel when writing your own posts.

As for what you said about the sight, I am gonna have to look that one up because that is So very interesting! hmmmm

I think that "seeing" death means knowing that the person in front of you has passed from being alive to being dead right there. Harry closed his eyes because he knew what was coming and when he opened them again, he saw that it was true.

That may be true. I just always thought that seeing death meant actually SEEING it happen. I dont know whos right, or maybe its just a mistake, but it certainly is interesting. But something i just thought of that might contradict that theory is the 1st book. Harry didnt actually SEE Quirrel die, but he knew it happened and understood it and everything. I am very confused...
