Wow...I've been missing for a while from the forum. And now I come back to find this great ideea :P Yeah it's a great one. I like reading, though I don't realy read as much as I would like to.

As for the Hobbit. This might just be a perfect time to finish it, if I can find the time. (Surprisingly, I thought it was easier to read LOTR)

I am too a fan of sci-fi. Hope I can get some good recomandations :D

Yes...discussions about the Hobbit start in May, so everyone's got this month (April) to have the chance to read it.

I'm quite surprised myself too at how much I'm enjoying it. I won't go into any details yet but I'm just at the end of chapter 11 and totally enchanted by the story.

I was just wandering....would it be possible to have those book links

"BaO recommends Amazon for Harry Potter books
and for our June 2006 Book of the month, Inkheart"

on all pages not just the few that they are one because I wanted one the other day and it took me ages to find where they were hiding and perhaps if they were up on the main page it would advertise the book of the month forum a bit more so we'd get a bit more of a discussion because the forums themselves aren't very obvious being down the bottom of the page. I practically never scroll down this far unless I'm looking for something specific.

Good point about having difficulty in finding the links. I even had problems myself on checking things a few days ago.

Originally I'd only set them up to show where the topic number is 4500 or higher. Seems an odd way to do it I know, but the reason is based on fear of what search engines may do. Basically there are theories that if search engines see too many of some particular links on a site, it may result in some search engines downgrading the ranking of a site in their search engine results pages. Because of this and taking into consideration we've got just under 5000 threads here at BaO, I figured that if the links were added to just the threads numbers over 4500 it would hopefully be a small enough percentage of pages for the search engines not to inflict a penalty, plus would be OK for members as the links would show on the more recent threads.

After doing this I've noticed that there are still a lot of live threads below number 4500 though, so I've used your suggestion about placing the links on the index page. :)

By the way, I reaallly like Ask.com ... BaO is number 3 there for the term harry potter forum :-)

Ask.com - never heard of it! But it does sound to be a nice search engine ;-)

The links on the index page are a good idea!

i wonder, have you read the whole series or just 'mists of avalon'?
(i know, when it comes to books, i'm curious  )

I've read some other books too, though I don't remember their titles. There was one about the previous Ladies of the Lake (e.g. young Vivien, my favourite character in Mists of Avalon), I've read two other books...

priestess of avalon, lady of avalon and the forest house i asume
i found ancestors of avalon quite fascinating. it tells how atlantis fell and how the surviving priests and priestesses found avalon and stonehenge
i like how marion bradley connected atlantis to avalon, it kinda makes the story even larger
