I haven't read any book by Jane Austen, but you're (almost) all so enthusiastic about them, that I'll buy one as soon as I've got the time.
I have read LOTR of course, and The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and 'Unfinished Tales' by Tolkien. They were great, no need to say anything about that.

Have any of you ever read Oscar Wilde? I myself have read The Importance of Being Earnest. That was/is such a hilarious and great play, it's really an ingenious plot. Furthermore I've read The picture of Dorian Gray, which I found very interesting. The way Wilde describes how Dorian changes and changes, as does his painting, is so fascinating!

Then I've read The Man who was Thursday by G.K. Chesterton. That book I read because it was mentioned in the game Deus Ex. It is quite a weird story, but a great one nontheless. If you want to read it, you can go here http://www.ccel.org/c/chesterton/thursday/thursday.html though it's horrid for your eyes, reading a book on your computer.

Last, I liked 1984, A brave new world, A clockwork orange. I believe they are all written by British authors too! And Shakespeare is quite nice too. And Olaf Stapledon too. Wow, there sure are a lot of good British writers! :circling:
