Yay, I'm so excited there is someone here from Portugal. My grandfather was from Portugal and I grew up in a predominantly portuguese area here in the USA. Most of the kids I went to school with were portuguese as well.
Eventually I'm going to take my Caldo Verde recipe and translate it into Portuguese (using an online translation site like Alta Vista or something) and hang it on one of the walls in my kitchen. I don't speak or read it myself (even though I took 2 years of it in college) but I thought it would be a nice touch to do this. In the US it is very in-style to decorate your kitchen "French Country" or "Tuscan" so I thought having one of my grandmothers recipes translated into her native language would be more unique. Where are you from in Portugal? My grandfather was born in Sao Miguel but I believe he grew up on Faial...I think so at least. He came to the US when he was older. Well, anyway, I have chatted your ear off about all this stuff that is probably completely boring to you. Good to meet you here on BaO
