) it hurt so bad I couldnt eat anythign for a week. Except soft fruits. I ate nothing but pears, bananas and applesauce, and I'm a big eater so i ate a crapload of that stuff. and I still lost 8 lbs. But when my teeth stopped hurting I threw down a couple of ribs and a steak and gained it back!!

What happens is this:
Your body goes into starvation mode and your matabolism shuts down. Ultimatly what happens is you end up putting weight on rather than losing it because of the change in your metabolic set point.
If you want to try something drastic I would recommend trying to confine yourself to only fruits and vegatables for a week.
I would highly recommend against a starvation diet.

Many people who start a low-carb or carb-free diet cut out whole grains and starchy vegetables like corn and potatoes and replace it with fatty meats and protiens (which, coincidentally, are some of the foods you need the least of a day). Cutting out a plain baked potato to have a 12-oz steak is really not that smart.
