well i wrote a poem and i was wondering what you guys thought about b/c i am not very good at writing poetry but i think its pretty good just give me suggestions on what i can make better if you want.
Memories
Im healing the wounds i made when i left,
regreting that I never said goodbye,
with every step that I take,
I always take two steps back,
we have met new people and had new experiences,
but somehow it never fails you slip into my mind,
your face, your voice, and your smile,
I have always thought of you as my good friend,
I remember how we hugged even if we weren't supposed to,
no matter what happens I know you will always
be ther for me and i hope you know i will do the same,
from the first time i saw you to the last time we hugged,
I knew you were special,
even though it has just been recently that i have known what you mean to me

Well, I'm no critic either but here's my honest opinion; it's great, the only things I thought could be written differently was the two steps back line, and some of the sentance layout near the end...it jumps around a bit I thought.

But, great poem :-)!

i like your poem very much

"The best way to destroy your enemy is to make him your friend."

"Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow."

"Even if you're on the right path, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

"It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for who you are not."

"It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice."

"The trouble with doing nothing is you never know when you're done."

Be thankful when you don't know something For it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations Because they give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for each new challenge Because it will build your strength and character. Be thankful for your mistakes They will teach you valuable lessons. Be thankful when you're tired and weary Because it means you've made a difference.

Hmm,

He who asks question looks foolish for five minutes; he who does not is foolish for life.

Practice makes perfect, but if no-one is perfect why bother?

Victory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

is this from "Closing Time"?? That used to be my favorite song!! :D

I love quotes, lol, I live for them, so sorry if this is a bit long:

"The secret of happiness is to make others believe that they are the cause of it."

"You may forget, but let me tell you this: Someone in some world will think of us."

"They could do it because they believed they could." --Virgil

Robert Frost (My Favorite poet) :
IN A DISUSED GRAVEYARD
The living come with grassy tread
To read the gravestones on the hill;
The graveyard draws the living still,
But never anymore the dead.
The verses in it say and say:
"The ones who living come today
To read the stones and go away
Tomorrow dead will come to stay."
So sure of death the marbles rhyme,
Yet can't help marking all the time
How no one dead will seem to come.
What is it men are shrinking from?
It would be easy to be clever
And tell the stones: Men hate to die
And have stopped dying now forever.
I think they would believe the lie.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The Ataris (My favorite band, and oh yes, the last ones, I promise, hehe :) ):
"All the nights we stayed up talking
Listening to 80's songs,
And quoting songs from all the movies that we love
It still brings a smile to my face...
Being grown up isnt half as fun as growing up
These are the best days of our lives
The only thing that matters is following your heart
An eventually you'll finally get things right"

"Please dont let me go falling from the sky
This fasten seatbelt sign just needs to go out
If only you could be right here by my side
Home wouldnt seem so far from here"

I have lots and lots more, but I won't bore you with them!

yay, someone else loves him too! :jump: I think that a lot of teachers make students memorize his work (it's just so good!). When I was in 6th grade I had to memorize Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, The Road not Taken, and In a Disused Graveyard for this presentation I had to do. I used to live in Vermont, like really near where he wrote a lot of his poetry, so out there they drill him into your head at an early age
