Hmmm...favorite quotes...favorite quotes...here we go...

"Dreams, are essential to life..." - Anais Nin
"Humanity is flawed, but I am as well...therefor, we make a perfect pair" - Some old lady sitting on her porch
"Making love to you...would be like, jumping into a Martini glass, filled to the brim with blue and white paint, that tasted like Grapes, and smelled like the rain..." - Don't ask...

And as for poetry...I have to say this is one of my favorites...

"Rain, is wet...
Therefor the grass is went,
therefor my feet are wet,
therefor the kitchen floor is wet,
therefor grandma slips...
damn nature, damn..."
- An original....

My depth has no limits!!

It's done that to me, too, and the only thing I can come up with is that the forum edits out parts of words that contain potentially offensive material, for instance s c r a p contains the word 'c r a p' (I don't usually use offensive words, just trying to make a point!), just as g r a p e s contains the word r a p e...get it? That's the best guess I can give on that one...it's annoying, yes, but I can see it's purpose...just hang in there! :)

ON TOPIC  :

"Who you are speaks so loudly, I can't hear what you're saying." ~ I forget who said this!

"There are two tragedies in life: one is not getting what we want, the other is getting it." ~ Oscar Wilde (love him! )

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." ~ Ewan McGregor in "Moulin Rouge" (but no doubt, someone else said this long before that movie came out! )

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME." :D ~ Author Unknown

I found some sayings that i liked and i wanted to share them with you guys.

I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.

No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.

Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.

Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

"The voice of intelligence ... is drowned out by the roar of fear. It is ignored by the voice of desire. It is contradicted by the voice of shame. It is biased by hate and extinguished by anger. Most of all it is silenced by ignorance. "
-Dr. Karl Menninger

"You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star. "
-Friedrich Nietzsche
Go read Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Amazing stuff.

"Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings. "
-Caesar in William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar
Read that, too. More amazing stuff.

My God man! You're drunk!

Churchill:

The Ataris (My favorite band, and oh yes, the last ones, I promise, hehe ):

Yeah...I <3 The Ataris too...

My favorite line from them is

"Will you be my best friend, if I offer you my heart, because it's already yours..."

another words of wisdom comes from my favorite movie "Amelie"...it is in french so I will give you a rough translation:

"Take a risk. Your bones are not brittle and made of glass like mine are, so they can take the hard knocks this life can bring us. If you take a risk, your bones with not break; you will bounce back."

I need to watch the movie again and get the proper quote

I also like this line from a song composed by Debussy but I don't know the lyricist, but it is:

Elle a la mer, Nous au tombeau (sp...I know, I am horrible at french, forgive me)...it is from the song Beau Soir... I took the song to mean that you can only count on two things in this world...the sea coming in and out in the tide, and death, so live life to the fullest...

and as always...

*AccioNiffler is shocked that someone else has seen Amelie besides her and the few friends that would actually read an entire movie*

that movie was great! it's like the whole movie could just be posted as a favorite quote! Everyone should definitly go out and rent it!

this quote is from my sister's aol profile: Personal quote:I figure that Theres one person meant for everyone in the world. My person is Rupert Grint. He might not know it , but he is. I figure he'll find me one day! :) haha!

ok, this is weird...

In another thread that i posted minutes before i said:
Hey accioniffer, we have a lot in common: The love of Fred and George, The Ataris, and AP English...lol

and now i read that you too also have seen Amelie!!!!

so now we share a love of Amelie, Fred and George, The Ataris, and...Ap English??????

But I also like the part in Amelie where Collingon is telling Lucien he is so slow he could be a vegetable, then the guy in the cellar tells amelie to say:

You could never be a vegetable, Mr, Collingon, because even artichokes have hearts

I love that part!!!!!

btw, this is post 125...whoo hoo...

*thinks of a new title*

I can catch you a fish and feed you for today, or I can teach you to fish and feed you for life.

Sometimes you just gotta pull your pants down and slide on the ice.

Amelie is one of my favoruite movies in absolute...

Anyway, I do collect quotes, I have quite a lot of them.
Here are some of my best (often I'll try to translate from Italian...)

"You can be anything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be"
(Queen - Innuendo)

"Distance makes things smallest to sight but biggest to memory
(Arthur Schopenhauer)

"Do not worry about your difficulties in mathematics. I can assure you that mine are still greater"
(Albert Einstein)

"Without music, life would be an error"
(Friederich Nietzsche)

"Nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain"
(Guns 'n' Roses - November rain)

As for poetry, you should try to read the last Canto of Heaven of Dante's Divina Commedia. Maybe the best thing ever written. Even if I know it's very difficult for who is not Italian.[/i]

Here goes:

'I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability'. - Oscar Wilde (immensely interesting how he portrayed Dorian Gray and his other writings are great too, though I've only read The Importance of being Earnest besides The picture of Dorian Gray) -

'Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.'. - Oscar Wilde

'Work is the curse of the drinking classes'. - Oscar Wilde

'A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain'. - Mark Twain

'Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint'. - Mark Twain

'All generalizations are false'. - Mark Twain

from a song:

'All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see...All we are is dust in the wind'. - Kansas
