Look at it this way. the majority of people from China, Korea and Japanese are all of very similar if not the same race. But you don't call a Japanese a Chinese.

Okay, so Germany is a country and German is a race....You see? I mean, this is the way goverment/id agencies, etc. categorize people (gosh that sounds so generic)...You have to go to the government if you really don't think that Chinese should be considered a race, darling

Yes, I always agree with the dictionary. Words can have more than one meaning but when we use a word we only mean one thing. For the racial discussion that I have started I should have said 'genetic' race. It's what I meant. Stick with one meaning to a word. We can't have a discussion arguing whether a compass can both draw a circle and give the direction.
We can have another thread discussion the second meaning of 'race' if we wanted in which chinese is a race.
