Hey,

I just read the THE DA VINCI CODE by Dan Brown and thought some people might be interested in some mentions HP gets.

First one of the characters says something to the effect of "It was even mentioned in the most popular book ever" and another character replies "You mean that even Harry Potter mentions this?"

Another far more interesting tidbit. The book centers around a secret society, kinda like the masons or the illuminati. A charcater in the book uncovers a document the french government had that lists the previous grandmasters. The list includes Leonardo Da Vinci, Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo and many others. Finally, one of the grandmasters, between 1398-1418 was none other than Nicolas Flamel.

I am pretty sure the documet is real. I tried to research it but it was all in french. I thought it was pretty funny to see his name.

No, but really, that's really intersting. I had no ideal Nicolas Flamel was real...that makes...things seem all the more deep now. I love it. :grin:

Nicolas Flamel was an alchemist. He did attempted to make the elixer of life which is capable of turning metal to gold. I presumed he didn't succeed.

wow, Harry Pottter is already being mentioned in other great works of literature? usually that doesn't happen till the author's dead lol.

I'm serious, people have dug around his house and environs for the Philosopher's Stone because they believe that he really did invent that. :rolleyes:

I'm thinking of reading the book as well -- is it any good vacuum?

I remembered reading somewhere abt Nicolas Flamel and the elixir of life and he didn't succeed. Well, people chose to believe Earth was once flat, isn't it? :lol:

The book is in french? How am i gonna read it?

well, you'll just to do as we french do to read Harry Potter's books : learn a foreign language and get used to it.
You'll see, it's not that difficult.

by the way, of course Harry Potter's books have been translated in french, but it takes in average 5 to 6 months. That means people who doesn't know english have to wait until December 2003 to read OOTP.

yasmane is right, it is not very difficult...i speak english as my first language, yet I can read in french very well after only about a year of mild study...it is possible!!!!!

The da vinci code was great. I loved it. I went out and bought some of dan brown's other books after I finished.

BTW, its in english. It always was. The document that listed the grand masters was in french.

Oddly my AP Calculus teacher today was talking about the books she read this weekend, and one was "The Devinci Code" and it really interested me...I think I have to go and search for my library card so I can check this puppy out!
