DISCUSS: ways to spread members more evenly among houses

Postby pinky p » Wednesday 5 November 2003 4:10:38am

*cough cough* er... i can't help noticing that ravenclaw has mucho more members then any of the other houses, and i think it would be much more fun for everyone if the houses were more- erm- even. would anyone like to... make a comment/pose a question/rant/make a suggestion?

Oooo this is gonna be a tricky one..... If people want to be in ravenclaw what can we do? I have noticed we have a lot more members than other houses but I dont see that we can do much apart from saying people cat go in ravenclaw....

How are we gonna make the rest of the houses as active as Ravenclaw?
How are we gonna increase the no. of posts/topics in Gryffindor without spamming?
How are we gonna increase the intake of members in Hufflepuff?
How are we gonna help Slytherin who has only prefects there to post?

(I might be wrong in my statements but I readied it somewhere...in my dreams???)

I post toooons of stimulus threads in SLytherin, start different discussions and so on. But how can it possibly help when there are only 4 people visiting the common room? (who r prefects)

But it will be impossible to spread the members out. I mean, if some one wants to be in a certain house - u shouldnt stop them, u know?

And the members we have right now are all already sorted in the different houses.
:???:
Belive me I thought of that too!

I agree with mint. I know Im a ravenclaw so maybe I cant see the full scope of things, but its only fair to let people pick what house you want to be in, I really wanted to be in ravenclaw and I wouldnt have liked it if someone said I couldnt be. Its not really possible without really restricting people.

Well, what if everybody got sorted without being able to choose? I wouldn´t have minded - would be really exciting! :o But I suppose that existing forum members wouln´t want to change their houses.

you cannot force people to join a house just because their fave house has too many members...it wouldnt help...i ended up in a slytherin house on a forum and left the site almost instantly because i wanted to be in Hufflepuff and im sure all the slytherins and the forum itslf was really nice, i just never gave it a chance the moment the sorting hat quiz told me i was a slytherin....so i think all you can do is let people choose the house they want and in doing so hope that cos they got their fave house they might be active and stay around....

i dont know, Hufflepuff was getting so quiet before the move of servers so i posted a crazy hufflepuff rpg (a zonko one basically but in the Hufflepuff common room) i allowed the hufflepuffs to choose the name and it seems to get some activity...i find polls work well too....

well there was a thing that if a new member doesn't care which house he/she will be in - we would let Paul decide. But then, because everyone wanted a person to join their house - we would just drown them in house-promotion....which did work too

And as for polls, and rpgs and so on to wake up the members - it would work I guess if there were more then 4 members in the house (which is the situation that we have in Slytherin right now. I mean the rest of the members are not even coming here so...

Oh well......I will ruuuuuule the Slytherin for now! :eekie:

Gryfindor is similarly sleepy... 3 out of the 4 mods are active members and there is me and a couple of others. But thats about it. In fact nobody has joined gryfindor since I did. The prefects are saying I brought them bad luck

:o i guess most people have come to the conclusion that there isn't really anything we can do... hmm. i like the idea of when people join, they can choose to either pick a house or be randomly sorted. that should at least help a little. yeah, obviously we can't move people who have already been sorted and are active in their house. even ravenclaw has been pretty slow since the server move! i guess we'll have to wait a while for things to get back to normal.

Aw *pats Gower on his shoulder*
We never said that, right? *gives Gower an evil stare*
Ok I guess we have to make Gryffindor more active by posting more funnier stuffs...isn't that right, Gower? Since you are supposed to guard Gryffindor security, you'd better come out with something!

I think that in the rules it says that you must stick to your house and yoiu cant move to different houses. Even though its a good idea, i dont htink it will work. who would be willing to switch houses after making so many wonderful friends in your house?

I certainly wouldnt want to switch, but its definately in the rules that you cant swap house. Ravenclaw common room used to be really active, but it does seem a quieter than before the change of server, I tinkits partly cos we've dropped one prefect and lost (temporarily) another.
