a talk i need help with

okay, i'm giving a talk at a retreat that i'll be going to in a few weeks. however, giving non-humorous talks is not my thing. i'm horrible with them. so, this is where you guys come in. i need your help on this. and i didn't put this in St. Mungo's because i don't think that it's really a 'problem'. more just a discussion to give me ideas. okay, the theme of the topic is "I Can't", which basically means overcoming everything that we say that we can't do, and i have ideas for it, but i would like other people's opinions too. now, mind that this will be given to basically upcoming high school freshman. so, basically, i'm not asking anyone to write it for me, but more like start up a discussion about things that you said that you can't do, but you overcame, and stuff like that.

umm.. can you tell us whether you have to talk in the general manner more or give examples regarding previous experiences? and do the experiences have to be school-oriented?

if it is experiences , you can give many school-oriented challenges like studying hard for an exam which you thought you cant pass, proposing to a girl, apologising to someone for an error (which i think is a tough thing to do: show humility), score a winning goal or something when your team needed it.

if it is in the general sense, talk about human nature to start of with, how we hesitate and lose hope many times. say that we need will, determination blah blah to bring ourselves to do things. say that achieving such goals gives the ultimate satisfaction.

thats all i can say offhand

If your looking for our personal ideas. . .

I inherited my father's temper. Which is basically borderline insanity when upset by someone. I have in the last few years learn to control this rage. There are still times when I have to just walk away. . . punch a wall. . . walk back and start over but I don't black out and "become possessed by the devil" anymore which happened when I was little ( not litterally possessed BTW  )

A little more general. . . Growing up on a horse farm it was like the first rule of thumb that if you get thrown from a horse you get immediatly(sp) back on. Otherwise the horse knows your afraid.
