The Pillars of Storge

Postby Gypsy » Saturday 26 June 2004 6:52:41pm

Newsround (a TV proramme in the UK) have printed on teletext this afternoon saying that someone was messing around on JK's website and somehow managed to find a note labelled July 1st which revealed to them that the title of the next book is Harry Potter and the Pillars of Storge. Personally I think this title seems a little unlikely, firstly because ut sounds silly and secondly because Newsround is a rubbish programme which is often inaccurate with its stories, so I wouldnt trust it too much, but I still thought it was interesting.

(I edited the word "storg" by adding an "e" - Broccoli)

hmmmmm that's interesting even if it's not true. you're right though, the title is kind of odd. and i'm not familiar with newsround at all, is it like a tabloid newspaper but on tv?

Could be some truth in this. Saw it posted on another site as well, title doesn't seem too unlikely.

this rumor seems to be gaining popularity by the minute. here's a link to an article about the possible title, and at the end of the article there's a link to a video that supposedly shows the source of the info:http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/MTarchives/week_2004_06_20.html#004840

i don't know if anyone else reads or posts on the lexicon forum, but they've had quite a bit of discussion about it and have some theories about what the title means if in fact it is the title.

we may find out if this is true on july 1 when/if jkr's site is updated.

storge is one of four "loves". the word is greek, and i read on the lexicon forum that it means "the instinctual love that a parent has for a child". i'm no expert though, this is just what someone else said, so if anyone knows more, please share.

i found a site that is purely dedicated to this rumor:http://www.geocities.com/pillarofstorge/

it tells what storgé means and a bunch of other things about Harry Potter and Pillar of Storgé.

I don´t know what to believe...maybe jkr thought that the door would be hacked open soon and she just wanted to have a good laugh! Why would she put such an information there if she doesn´t want it to be found??
Here is a web site dedicated to the door on her homepage: http://www.potterskeys.com

I second tht, harry lover... Why on earth would she "hide" such an important information in her site?

It's just a rumour, she talks about it on her official site and she seems like being amused. :D Sometimes she must have had a great time reading all those rumours...

On her website today (29th June) she says that the name of the sixth book was almost the name of CoS, but it fit better with the sixth book. Also she said that the opening chapter for the sixth book was previously one of the drafts for PS. The pillar of Storge doesn't sound like a JK title and she stated that it's not the title of book 6 in no uncertain terms.

Completely unrelated but I just noticed when I was re-reading the series (for about the millionth time  ) that Diagon Alley is pretty much diagonally. Am I the only one whose noticed that or am I arriving to the table a little late? . Its got that JK sense of humour in it that it just can't be coincidental. Maybe it was writer's block.

i've started a thread in the books section that contains the confirmed new title for book 6, so if you want to see it go there. but there's a puzzle on jkr's site that you can find the new title, so if you want to work out the puzzle first, definitely do that. i won't put the title in the title of the thread so that i won't spoil it for anybody :D

hint for the puzzle: start with the "secret" door
