Wow, that is weird - I've just done a search for Hex and Terry Pratchet...and I've never read any of the Discworld books . There was a radio play of one of his books once that I heard a very small part of - something to do with Death and his servant I think. Seemed very good, but I'm pretty sure the play didn't mention Hex in it at any point....Spooky!

There are millions of books, maps, companions, almanachs, calenders, board games, a tv drama or movie or something, Hogfather was on Sky over Christmas and even an animated series. It is about a disc shaped world that sails through space on the back of four elephants standing on the shell of a gigantic turtle.

I don't think he shall need to worry about preventing people using his characters after he ends the series for a long time yet, he rekeases at least 2 new books per year.

Hex is a sort of invention by the wizards at Unseen University... It's predominantly shown in The Science of Discworld series rather than the novels, but they're all intertwined so it pops up every now and again...
