ok don't all hit me at once but... i think that keanu reeves would make an excelent lord voldemort and also carter from ER (i think its carter, the one who looks a bit like keanu) ithey could both easily pull off the 'evil face thing'

i think that would be a terrible choice of the director if he chose them for voldi's part!

Hrmm, Keanu Reeves... I dont' know about that one...

He really cant' act very well... I do try to stick up for him sometimes, with the 'maybe that's just how they want the character to act'... but in all honesty, he's really not very good... :(

Very nice to watch in movies, but not the best actor in the world... and he did a bad guy in the gift I think... :-? not all that good...

And I was jsut watching PS this morning... *while riding a stupid exercise bike* and they already hav a guy for Voldie, no? The dude who's face was on the back of Quirell's head??? :???:

I don't think that the Voldie on the back of Quirrels head was a real person, CGI maybe. Besides what Voldie looks like at the beginning of the series is completely different from when he is reborn into the snake faced wizard in GOF. I still think Jude Law would make an excellent choice. It's also quite a bummer that they already showed a James in the Mirror of Erised because I found a perfect James Potter or Voldie for that matter. His name is Ioan Gruffudd and he is an english actor who has starred in Titanic, Balckhawk Down, and 102 Dalmations. He is simply perfect for the part of James Potter in my opinion but if he could pass for an evil character I think he would do great as Voldie also. When I think of James Potter I imagine someone who can be looked up to as a fare but intelligently fearsome fellow who would be a sloppy dresser but in an artsy sort of way. The James they showed in the Mirror of Erised simply looked like someones Uncle.

Yeah, I wasnt' really that fussed on James and Lily... They weren't bad, but I would have though that they could have done better!

But uhhh, I just found some pics of that guy, Ioan Gruffudd, and I don't really think that I could see him as James either! Sorry Broken!!!
He kinda looks too young... :-? I imagined James as older looking than that... more about the age of the one in the movies!

And that's my prob with Jude Law too... :(

Lie I said though, they'll probably cake on the make up to make Voldie look like a snake. On the other hand though we wont be seeing James again untill GOF and Jude Law and Ioan Gruffudd we both be a lot older by then. Especially since the last thing I saw Jude Law was A.I. and Gruffudd hasn't realy been seen since Blackhawk down.

I was wondering, *if* they decide to recast the child actors (Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco, etc.), who would you ideally cast in those roles? I'm hoping the kids don't get replaced, but if aging out doesn't do it, a desire to get on with their lives or do other things might. Just for purely speculatative purposes, I'd be interested to see how you'd recast the roles, if you had to pick older people, particularly for the larger parts (i.e. the trio as well as Draco). What are your thoughts? :jump:

i think they(aka the kids) have a contract to do at least four movies.I don't really see them replacing them anytime soon after that either.b/c they are kinda the characters b/c when you talk about harry potter you think of the tri of daniel, rupert, and emma now so it wouldn't be good marketing skills

Yeah it really all depends on when they decide to go. If its after GOF who knows what the characters themselves will end up looking like, not that I expect anyone to get doused with toxic goo or anything, but by then they could have a whole new look and characters that have the same characteristics as the trio now could be terribly off base.

Okay after researching James Potter I have come to the conclusion that Chris Columbus just did a lousy job with the James Potter character in the movie and that Ioan Gruffudd is actually quite suited to play James.

James Potter was born in 1960 and went to Hogwarts from 1971 to 1978 which makes him eighteen when he had left the school. Okay at this point James is only 18 years old. He and Lilly are married straight out of school in 1979 and Lilly gives birth to Harry in 1980. At this point James is still only 20. Then wormtail betrays the Potters and Voldie kills them October 31, 1981. This means that Harry and Lilly had died when they were 21, at the max 22. So why shouldn't James look young instead of ending up looking like a P.E. coach in the mirror of Erised. Also James Potter is described as Tall and thin, the man in the movie was much to bulky.

Now more then ever I definitly think that Ioan Gruffudd should have been cast as James Potter. Plus now I truelly know how old he and Lilly are.

Yeah, I supose that they did die at 20, but I sitll like to envision them at Snape's age, which they would be if they were alive.. it just makes ore sense to me... because after all, Harry will be, what 17 at teh end of the books, and it would be strange thinking of James as a 20 yr old when his son is 17... :-?

but hey, that's just how my mind works! Not everyone has to agree or whatever!!! :D

I don't see why they didn't just do an age progression on Daniel himself. After all, the books continuously hammer the point that Harry looks exactly like a near-carbon-copy James, only with Lily's green eyes and a slightly shorter nose and overall height. It should be easy to age him, manipulate his height and nose, and color in his eyes; no? :???:

I read somewhere that Rupert Grint wants to do more than three, maybe up to book five, but after that if JK doesnt hurry up the kids will get too old so they wont be able to carry on anyway,I think Malfoy looks too old already in the second film (does anyone else think that????) but I think it will be weird with different actors.

I have also read that "the three" are not planning to take a leave after the third movie. They won't get too old.

Look at actors like Ralph Macchio. *rev mom can hear the groans* But still, he was playing 14 year old "Daniel-Son" when he was 23 or 24. (that's the Karate Kid for you really young ones that missed the 80s.)
You can definitely play high school kids when you're in your early twenties with the right clothes, hair and make-up...even for the boys. I think the actors playing the parts are so beloved to the public, that neither they nor the movie studio will want to mess up a good thing and as long as everyone agrees to it, I think they'll stick with the cast they have.

I have heard through the grapevine (actually I think it was Ian Mckellan's website) that while he was not considering Dumbledore's role after Richard Harris passed away, he did publicly comment that he was interested in another role in the later movies. Who do you think that might be? Mad Eye Moody perhaps?

I'm anxious to see David Thewlis as Lupin. He looks like, well, I don't know, *rev mom is being reserved and polite here* in his publicity stills, but I saw him in Dragonheart playing "the bad guy" as an adult, and he was great. I think he will bring just the right masculinity to that role and the fact that he's not so handsome but still has a strong face, and broad shoulders will be a good contrast to Gary Oldman as Sirius Black.
