The Tale of the Hat Shop

Postby Scellanis » Monday 26 January 2004 1:00:48am

My little sister persuaded me to write this over Christmas....so now i have to post it...and i need ideas for the next stage....

Tale Of The Hat Shop

A tall stranger flounced down Diagon Alley gazing in the shop windows. A closer look revieled a tanned man with long black braided hair and a short beard consisting of three small braids. He was wearing a tatty old hat with the remains of a feather stuffed in the brim. Of course the hat is the most important item of clothing but he also wore a nice pirate jacket, some wonderful boots, a sword, a pistol with no shot or powder and alot of sashes, beads and the like.

He walked happily past the window of the hat shop, stopped, looked back, threw his hands up in glee and dashed through the door, pouncing on a number of spectacular hats sporting big fluffy feathers.

"Can I be of service Sir?" Asked the shop assisstant.

Captain Jack Sparrow froze, looked up from the feathery hats and smiled.

"I want a hat... with a big feather... a really big feather..."

"Sure Sir, I believe the biggest feathers are in that cupboard, if you will just wa... "

Before the assisstant could make a move Captain Jack Sparrow had leapt into the large wardrobe like cupboard. Hats with big feathers everywhere... heaven! He moved further into the cupboard, stroking feathers. He eventually settled on a nice brown hat with a large fluffy black feather, thinking that this be the kind of wardrobe with a mirror in the back he pushed further in the hope of trying it on infront of a mirror.

All of a sudden he felt fresh air on his face, the smell of earth and trees, the sound of birds, blue eyes, long blonde hair...

"Bloody hell!" Jack exclaimed, staggering backwards.

Back in the shop the shop assisstant stared into the cupboard, tapped the back wall and shrugged.

Back with Jack again, he tugged his beard, stared at the man infront of him... "Do I know you? You look strangely familiar... wait... I do! Will Turner... Um... Why do you have blonde hair and pointy ears?"

Legolas blinked, stepping backwards. "Will? I am Legolas... "

"Oh... OK... I'm Captain Jack Sparrow... so where am I then, one minute I'm surrounded by beautiful hats, next minute I'm in a forest." Jack asked, spreading his hands wide to gesture at the trees as he grinned at Legolas.

Legolas blinked, tilting his head, "hats, err... this is the middle of Mirkwood, no hats here..."

"Oh..." Jack sways, grins at Legolas, "well thats no good, where can I get hats from then? Hang on, you aren't wearing a hat!" He grined, flicking Legolas's hair, "that wont do at all, lets get you a hat..." he looked around... "which way are the hats, mate?"

Legolas stepped back "well... you could try Minas Tirith I suppose... I haven't really seen anyone, except you, wearing a hat... unless helmets count..."

Jack stared agast at Legolas then turned round and wandered off in his unmistakable style, muttering about strange people in strange places and hats. Legolas stashed away his bow and arrows and dashed after him to tell him he was going the wrong way.

Later, on the outskirts of Mirkwood, Jack turned to Legolas. "You suit blonde hair, much better for your complexion," he then dashed off.

Legolas frowned and shrugged. Deciding it wouldn't be safe to leave this guy alone in Middleearth he ran after him.

Satyrs. I noticed the reference to Narnia, and there is a TV series...it's just that there's so many books it would take 20 years to make the movie!

There is a movie

Postby Alice I » Monday 8 March 2004 3:00:35pm

There is a movie The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I rented it for my kids and they loved it. The movie was Brittish made and I got the impression that it was made some time ago. The special effects were very BBCish and old fashioned. I'll go back to Wegmans and find it and get back as to when and where it was made.

Ya from what I read on the newspaper, they are indeed filming The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in New Zealand, Auckland.
So are you going to continue with this fantasy story, Sonkem? And do you think the Cheshire cat fit in?

Oh I see, it is hard to come out with free time esp with the hectic university life...my original stories (work-in-progess) are currently somewhere in a blue file

I like it...it's the perfect mix of the two....maybe before he gets to far in middle earth it should change again to another story that way it's not too much of just one :-D

It was humorous...I can't stop smiling... :double jump: I love it when things make me smile :circling:
