Ok this set of lyrics 'Detroit' isn't the best, and it doesn't rhyme...I really am not good at the rhyming sort of stuff, but it fits the melodies I have written for them. 'Detroit' is in reaction to a friend's death, and the chorus is pretty much what his father said to me at his wake. The weird interlude lists are pretty much what I think of what I remember my friend.
Detroit
Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.
Up at five, ready to go, you never thought twice. Life was there, take it’s offerings. Flying away you were, riding on the wings of life.
Doughnuts at midnight
Red Converse Sneakers
Wrestler turned Vegan
What Surprise is next?
You seized the day, every moment, took advantage of every opportunity. People smiled at the mere presence of your name, as you rode on the wings of life.
Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad ... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.
You soared over mountains with the one you adored, how high can one go when the wings turn to glass? The wings lay in pieces, but tears never were ever used as glue.
Cups of Coffee after class
Ice Cubes in Bathtubs
Stage Kisses on Broadway,
What Surprise is next?
Live life for now, not for the past. Life never passed you by, never wallowing in regrets. We all scream redo, but the key is never played. We hear its lonesome echo, but the legacy was built. A thousand people now ride on wings of life, seizing the day, rearing to go.
Every time I see you up on stage, I'll smile and think of my baby. What ever you do, do it for him. Don't be sad for him... You're too young for tears. Live life for now, not for the past.
Live for now, you’re young and the night is beautiful, ride away, ride away
It isn't such great writing, but it is a nice rembrance of my friend
