I love the characters. They are so different one from another and most imoportant - realistic. You can always find yourself in them or some situations.

Snape, Lupin, Lucius, Draco, Luna, Ron, Neville, Dumbledore, McGonagol, Lockhart, Moody, Tonks, F&G, A.Weasley.....
All the characters are so simple and complicated in the same time-wonderful

I don't remember if I have posted here before, so forgive me if I have already done so...

I like the intricate plot connections and twists, how even the smallest thing from the first book can be important to the outcome later...genius!

For me it's a perfect relaxation especially when I have exams. And I just love her characters as well as all those details. The way she chooses characters' names and it's quite realistic, actually.

Its the plots, so intricate but simple at the same time, the characters, so believeable, and the simple originality of the whole thing!

Wow, that's almost exactly what I was gonna say. :eek:

It's an easy read (few big words, doesn't drag on and on) but so interesting and descriptive that it feels very realistic.

Yeah, that and the fact that every time you read it you discover some teeny little twist you didn't notice before... My husband wonders how I can manage to just read and reread them as often as I do, and it's for that reason: every time I find something that makes me go "hmmmm...." and I get on here and start a thread :grin:

I think it's hard to explain why it's so attracting...
Actually, I've never thought about this before :-?

Maybe I like it because of the imagery that the books give you. They're all so detailed, so you can just imagine that it's you who are attending Hogwarts and learning magic.
I think what's most amazing is that everything's made up. (quidditch, magical creatures, spells, etc...)

I think Spirit hit on something with her reply.
The universal appeal of Harry Potter can be attributed to many things, but the fact that so many things in the books are purely made up is one of them.
The secret to these things being made up is that they are described with such conviction and detail that you, as a reader, have no problem finding these things believable; even plausable.

The basic story of the orphaned boy raised by horribe people who finds happiness in a secret world has that universal appeal that was mentioned.

It's a good story and JKR's ability to bring a simple idea to the life with rich discription on wonderfully intracate characters makes it so much more than a set of story books for children

Oh,well anyway, I love HP cause he's very realistic and I have some hope deap in me that all that is true...I still hope that an owl will come to me at the end of elementary school to inform me that I'm going to Hogwarts :oops:

Really,I'm a bit to childish about those kind of things :rolleyes:

And I like imaginate worlds,that's way I like HP,LotR....

When i read, with some books i imagine myself right in the story. When i read harry potter, more often than not, i put myself in the story, and it really hits home, right in the old ticker.
