also! they never had the death day party! and how is harry supposed to find out about the mauderers map?!?! and he never met Cho in the 3rd movie...also they haven't had any of the house cups or quidditch cups since the 1st movie! i think they left out WAY to much

One of my problems with the anti-dementor scene is that Harry barely hears anything. The screaming should become clearer and longer each time but he barely hears a faint "Haaarrrrrry" before he passes out.

First let me say that I'm glad they are making any of the HP books into movies because I like to see if what I imagined is anywhere close to how JKR imagined them. Now let me vent .....The 3rd movie was a little disapointing for me. I was under the impression that more of the book was going to be in it!! I really need to reread the 3rd book(last time I started it, I went in to labor) but I could've sworn they left out a whole bunch of stuff or they changed it. What were they thinking by having those kids singing and holding GIANT FROGS!!! In that time slot they could have explained who Padfoot, Moony, Wormtail, and Prongs were. It bugs me that in the Hogsmede scene where Harry is throwing SNOWBALLS at Malfoy and his homeboys that I don't know who the other kid is with him! I thought Crabbe and Goyle went everywhere with him...and then there is this skinny kid with him and Crabbe(I think it was Crabbe). The thing that really sends me over the edge is how they decided to end the movie! It was really cheesy! Why didn't they just have Harry jump up with his fist in the air and say, "YAY" then do the freeze frame.
I did like the movie. There was some cool stuff and I understand that they had to cut stuff out for time but I think what the director said about them putting the cut stuff from the 3rd book into the 4th movie is bull. What are they going to cut from the 4th movie???? Hopefully not the fight scene at the end or the tournament haha I really wish they would make the whole book a movie without cutting stuff like Steven King does with his 8hr miniseries. Enough complaining....anymore and I'll have to give back my HP Fanclub membership

I expected this movie to be much, much better than it finally was. When it ended, we just sat there with my friend looking at one another disappointed. Even the little kids there seemed disappointed!

But I'll start with what I liked...
Dementors - though they weren't supposed to be flying, I think they're great, I do like them a lot.
The new settings - those hills, just beautiful (but although nothing is impossible in JKR's world, I hope they won't be changing the settings in every movie).
Draco - I've never really liked him, but in this movie he's suberb!
Dumbledore - I like this one more then the previous, he's so funny.
The time-tuner scenes - well done as well as Buckbead.

But whose work was to cut the movie? Sometimes it was totally like... weird, jumping from one scene to another without any connection between them. And the very first scene, is Harry doing magic outside Hogwarts? And what it kill someone to add 10-15 minutes to the movie just to explain some things? It was too quick sometimes and the scene at the Shack was horrible - too fast, no explanations, nothing about James and the Maradeurs, odd Pettigrew...

I do hope that the next director will do a better job.

I thought the lanscapes were a little weird, they shouldn't just change the surroundings. My friend and I kept going "what IS that?" about the bridge thing Harry and Lupin were talking on. Anyways that wasn't the only thing that made me mad but it is what comes to mind when i think of the movie.

Despite the drawbacks of the rest of the movie, i thought the change of scenery was great. In the first two movies, I always thought the Hogwarts landscape was too constrained. In the books it always talks about the "wide, sweeping lawns", and there werent any in the first movies. The atmosphere was also amazing...The way they used the weather to their advantage, particularly when Harry and Hermione had used the time turner and were saving buckbeak, was great. The bad part about the scenery i can think of is that the "lake" where Harry saves Sirius and himself is not so much of a lake, but more of a small pond...oh well.

I agree with Phinea - the shack scene was poorly done and was way too quick. The fact that expeliarmus is used by Lupin and just disarms the kids but when Harry does it to Snape it sends him flying was stupid. Petttigrew was in it too early and missing Snape tell Harry off for his head being in Hogsmeade was disappointing - I like that bit.

Where was Pig? How did Sirius know Pettigrew was still alive? How about Harry thinking Snape was trying to poison Lupin? Crookshanks wasn't smart enough - he was just an ordinary cat. Need I go on?

I know it was a few months ago that i saw the film, but i was really dissappointed in it. Considering this is my favourite book i was not happy at all! Firstly on the visual i thought that when Lupin turned into a werewolf he looked TERRIBLE.
I think that too much was done very rushed, instead of concentrating on select incidents (such as in the shack), they could have easily made it into two films that covered everything very well which the audience would have loved.
I will see the next film when it comes out, but i cant see me being any more impressed with it than this one

Excuse me but that happened in the book.

1. Its actually Harry, Ron and Hermione thats meant to disarm Snape so 3 spells could do that.

2. Snape uses said disarming spell on Lockheart in the dueling club and look what happens to him in the book and movie.

3. Lupin is a considerable amount older, wiser and more practised than Harry since Harry only learnt the spell that year at the dueling club, I find it highly likely that Lupin can control the spell alot better than an emotional Harry Potter.

4. If they hadn't knocked Snape out by sending him flying he would have been present and concious for hearing how Pettigrew is a rat and Pettigrew is the snitch....which doesn't happen in the book...or he would have just taken Sirius straight to the dementors with no attempt to listen.

well, in my opinion, yeah i guess they left a lot out, but if they didn't the movies would take forever to watch and no one would see them and then they would make no money and thats why things are done in the capitalist world. So we all will deal with the things that are missing...

however, as a piece of art i think the 3rd movie was edited and filtered and pieced together wonderfully...the music was better, the colored filters were beautiful, the camera angles were super...everything was just so fantastic as a piece of art, and thats saying something as it came from just your ordinary Consumer-Based movie company and not an indie studio.

Well said Meg. I agree with other points as well -- that from a fan of the books, this and that were missing and maybe a tad bit disappointing, but from a movie goers standpoint, I thought the movie was excellent! I liked it enough to pre-order myself a copy for when it comes out on DVD/VHS this month.

i was very upset with the thrid movie and since the thrid books my fav it annoyed me so much. No death party,the muggle clothing drove me crazy!, no peeves! like they ruined the book. think the movie is a disgrace to the book. sirus is suppose to have longer hair think he's been in azkaban for 13 years u'd think his hair would be longer! the way lupin had scars on his face in the books he doesn't have scars all over his face. The Shreaking shack scene was way to short, i think it started than it was done

yea it was good by its self as a movie but as a series it sucked. its also becuase they had a different director but yea i agree with you.
