Book Six

I know this is sad, but I'm already desparate for the sixth book to come out but, that won't be for a few years. What am I going to do?

i'm just finished the fifth book this morning and then, i asked myself when is the six book coming out. i just hope its not a year. half a year would be ok.. but not a year..

Out of curiosity (because I'd love for it to be true! ), do you know if it says anywhere if book 6 will be out that soon? I was under the impression book 6 wouldn't be out for 2 - 3 years! If you know something to the contrary, do share . . . after three years' wait for the 5th book, I can imagine a year or a year and a half seems like a short wait by comparison!

I think I said somewhere else that I had heard that the 6th book will be shorter than the 5th . . . possibly more the length of the third book. Does anyone know if there's any validity in that? I am curious . . . while I enjoyed book 5 and all its detail, I'm not of the mind that longer necessarily means better.

Well, I know that with the last (fifth) book, JK said herself that the book was probably going to be the length of PoA, but we all know how that turned out. So, even if Rowling said that it wasn't going to be as long, I'd take it w/ a grain of salt. As far as I know about the sixth book, she has said that she has started it, but I don't think anyone knows how far she is to completing it.

I believe she's finished them all. I saw a special on TV, and she was holding the manuscript for the 7th, and said she'd finished. I mean, obviously she has time to change them, but I think it's mostly there. Probably will be another long wait to generate some more excitement.

really? i've read somewhere (don't ask where, 'cuz i forgot, but i can look around and try to find it) that says she's done all the books. but just some modification needs to be maked and i don't think it will take 2-3 years to so. But once again, i'm not 100% Sure. i'm just using that as a reference. and i hope it true.

Rowling didn't say that she finished them all. The 'manuscript' that she's holding up is probably the final chapter of Book 7 that she's finished writing. She already said that before that she's finished the last chapter of Book 7, since she worked that out a very long time ago, but she's barely started writing Book 6 and definitely haven't written anything on Book 7 yet except for the final chapter which she's now stowing in her safe to prevent leaking.

All she would say is that the last word in the final chapter would be "scar"... so no... I think we'll have to wait another 2 years or so to get to Book 6... which Rowling says will be shorter than Book 5, but Book 7 will be the longest book since she probably won't want to let go...

Aside from the written / not written / being written question, for marketing reasons I see no interest for the rich-and-smoking-cigare-guys to put out the sixth book before at least a year. There will be the third movie, then depending on its success perhaps the fourth a year later (if successful) or some rumours about the book coming soon (if relative failure). They could probably stir up the soup (with us as onions) for two years before putting the book out. Unless JK ...

They don't like to mix the movies with the books, so you can expect the next book to come out around a time when none of the next few movies are coming out. The PoA movie is expected sometime in the middle of 2004, and the GoF movie is expected around Christmas of 2005. So I'd guess for a spring 2005 or spring 2006 release of book 6.

OotP was the first book that JKR wrote without a deadline imposed on her by the publishers, so I assume that trend will continue. I wouldn't expect to see the next book for at least two years.

as much as i want it to, i doubt the sixth book will be out before at least two years from now. from all the interviews ive read with JK, i'm sure she hasn't already written everything. but i'm dying for it to come out! that was the first thing i said to myself when i finished book 5. i put the book down and said out loud "i cant wait for the 6th book!" but...i suppose i'll content myself with reading book 5 over a few times

WEll Rowling says book 6 wont be long so.. hopefully it'll be out sooner than the 5th..But then again she said the same thing last time and look at book 5(happy that it is long ). So if it's short it'll be out soon and if it's long... pray you have other books to read
