RPG: Dark Times [Suspended]

Dark Times

The year 1998 was forever remembered in the 'History of Magic' for the fall of the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort but it came with a terrible price. Many innocent lives and blood were lost, be it the wizarding community or muggles alike. It was recorded as one of the darkest period in the wizarding world, as well as, having the lowest attendance rate in Hogwarts academic year in the centuries. Set in the early days of 1997, whereby the Dark Lord had finally took his action. In a bustling town in the heart of London, there lived a few wizarding families whose lives were about to change when the town was targetted by the Death Eaters. P.S. This story is set outside of Hogwarts but even so, the characters can be students from Hogwarts but due to events, they were unable to return to Hogwarts this year. I hope this scenario will bring us a new view of the wizarding world outside of Hogwarts.

The start of this RPG is set in March 1997

Many thanks to choki for creating this RPG scenario.

The Bones mansion in central London was as fine a piece of wizarding Tudor architecture as you could find.

Before the second rise of Lord Voldemort, it had been in plain view of everyone, muggles included, and the only charm placed upon it was one making it nearly impossible to get a scartch on. This kept it in fine condition.

For centuries the Bones family was centred in this fine building, and a large estate in the countryside.

With the second rise of Lord Voldemort and his armies, and the launch of mass assaults by the Death Eaters - that all changed.

Edward Bones woke up with a jolt.

He had just had another nightmare - watching his aunt Amelia... his aunt Amelia... die.

Murder.

Alphonse Warrington.

Long dubbed by the media as "Prince Al", Alphonse was the only son and heir to the billionaire Harris Warrington. With a huge inheritance and a handsome face, it was not surprising that Alphonse was a regular in the tabloids. Pictures of Prince Al hanging out with other rich heirs in the prestigous clubs, horse-riding, etc. But strangely enough, the media could only managed to track Alphonse during the summer and winter holidays. There was never once, a picture of him taken in his school uniform after he turned 11. There were plenty of schooling pictures taken when he was younger, but not one at all after he graduated from junior class. Many had speculated his father, Harris Warrington, had sent him out of the country for studies so as not to let the media glaring lights affect Alphonse. But to where? No one knew... no one except the Warringtons and of course, the school he had been attending for the past 6 years - Hogwarts.

It all seemed so hopeless.

The Death Eaters and their army... every second getting closer and closer to domination of British wizardry. Edward wondered what was next - Today Britain, tomorrow the world?

He was so useless.

So... helpless.

No Harry Potter in the world would bother saving him, surely?

Who would kill Dumbledore???Who wanted him Dead...Voldemort, but we know it wasn't him...one of his Death Eaters maybe??

He sat making a list...

Harry Potter was still in his sixth year. How could he be The Chosen One? And then there's Dumbledore - if he can't stop Voldemort, how can Harry?

In the meantime I'm still not allowed ot go back to Hogwarts, thought Edward. How unfair... just because aunt di-..ed.

He wanted to cry.

This year was Alphonse's final year at Hogwarts. It had been his home for the past few years and he felt the obligation to fight the dark side, as a student of Hogwarts.

However, his parents refused. Even they knew it would be dangerous for any wizard to return, let alone Alphonse, a muggle born - filthy blood in the eyes of Lord Voldemort and his minions.

With that in mind, his father had hired more bodyguards for him though Al had mentioned that these effort would be futile as magic spells are far more deadly than guns. Besides he was the top student for Defense against the Dark Arts. Al knew he had a higher probability to survive on his ability than to rely on others.

Edward just couldn't convince his parents that Hogwarts was safer that the Bones mansion.

Hogwarts had Dumbledore, at least for the time being. Reports had come in lately that the old man might be losing his touch. Something about his hand...

But still his parents were convinced that the mansion was safer. His other aunt and uncle were still undecided about where to send Susan his cousin. His parents however, were unmovable in their stance.

It was home-schooling, or - there was no other option.

Al was bored. For the past 3 months, he was confined to the comfort of his home. "Too much comfort and peace," he said mentally. Indeed, after the Christmas' break, Al had thought he would be able to return to Hogwarts to continue his term until his father broke the news of a terrible slate of unfortunate events happening. Things that were never mentioned in the Daily Prophet. Things that were never mentioned to the wizarding community. Yet, all had association with the death eaters. Although the Warringtons were muggles, they had their source of information especially since their only heir was involved in the wizarding world.

"Those murderers would stop at nothing!" said his father.
"My dear son, it's not safe for you to go back, just stay here with us. At least, we will be able to see you," said his mother. Al would understand his mother. After all these years, the only time Al get to spend times with his family were during the summer and winter break. Any mother would want their children around her side, to care for them and to protect them from any harm.

Edward finally got up and ready for the day.

Another day of nothing.

He thought about his skills, and any way at all he could contribute to the Second War. But it seemed hopeless! His parents wouldn't let him him learn and develop his skills at Hogwarts. So how could he protect himself if the Death Eaters came?

With a bit of training in potions he supposed that he could be brilliant, but of course that didn't seem likely given the present state of the wizarding world. It didn't mean he couldn't get some books though.. and there was an old cauldron down stairs, even though it looked as though it dated back to medieval times.

"There are never enough potions masters," his aunt had once told him, "if that is what you can see yourself doing - I'd go for it."

Alphonse decided to take a stroll in the neighbourhood, with disguise under a huge trench coat. A few bodyguards did tag along but Alphonse had requested them to stay a certain distance apart so as to prevent any suspicion. With his wand hidden in the coat's pocket, Alphonse was prepared to take on anything that came onto his path.

Edward told his parents that he wanted to go into Diagon Alley for a while. He he looked over the ancient cauldron and come to the conclusion that it just wouldn't work; it would probably collapsed after the first magically reaction.

So he wanted to go into the Alley, to get himself a new one - his old one was at the deserted estate.

The deserted estate... he shivered.

Alphonse was walking alongside the road when he spotted a somewhat familiar face. He had seen this younger boy before, at Hogwarts.

Unable to call out his name, Alphonse hastened his pace and when he finally was within reach, he tapped on the younger boy's shoulder.

Edward approached The Leaky Cauldron, where his parents were having some butterbeer.

Alphonse tapped on the young boy who then quickly turned over as if he got a fright.

"Hey, you know me?" Alphonse spoke.
The boy gave a response between a headnod and a headshake. Alphonse looked up on the shop the kid was about to enter. He was sure this was the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron.

"You're from Hufflepuff, right?"
