That whole prophecy seen was shot on a green-scene with only a couple of props so they were just doing random things sometimes, I think. Which might make it even cooler!

I didn't read it so much as a story, as a poem. It truly is poetry, props to you

8585: Ohmylord 8585...
8584: Think Lelie -could- be tough if she wanted to be. Once again, she's like that big kitty at the zoo who -could- get up and be angry like the lions, but would much rather sleep like the tiger kitty it is.
8583: Let everyone know that I'm Jill! In a play!
8582: Laugh because the little girl on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition looked like she really thought her house smelled of stinky feet.
8581: Be overwhelmed by this silly science lab report. Gah..
8580: Growl, because I want to.
8579: Lean back and prop my feet up, while thinking that drama with 10 little munchkins, Fronk, and one big kitty could be very fun indeed.

HBP definitely. Even with the death of a dear friend, more dear than Sirius even, it still outshined the others by far. Props to JK for another intriuging installment in the already fabulous HP series.

What was he cryinf about. I can understand not wanting to die but couldn't he suck it up. Was it his idea about the cupboards or did he-who-must-not-be-named idea. If it was his then he definately had more brains then I thought he had, anyone who can fix something without really knowing what they are doing would be incredible hard. I give him props yet I still thought the whole time that he was after Harry not Dumbledore.

To my surprise and great relief, no one noticed me come in. This relief soon turned to horror as I realized that the whole class’s attention was focused on Melissa, who was rummaging around in my bag.
Why is the teacher never present on these occasions?
With a wicked screech of glee, Neanderthal Mel held her arm above her head, greedily clutching something in her grubby paw.
My heart actually stopped. I know it’s a medical impossibility, but at that moment, I was even ready to defy science.
“ERE look Loueez az a weslife CD”
Oh….Dear…..GOD.
Of all the things in my bag she could have possibly picked out to use as a prop with which to ridicule me (and believe me there were a few) she had to pick the absolute worst one. Westlife. At this point, I’d just like to say that the CD does in fact belong to my sister, and that I was only borrowing it.
I had never before been happy to hear the bell signaling the end of lessons, the shrill ringing sound punctured the dry atmosphere of the classroom and luckily I was very soon forgotten in the mad rush to get out of the door.
As usual, I was the last to leave the classroom but unusually I wasn’t smiling. I had achieved nothing during the lesson except self humiliation; I silently cursed asthma and Westlife for co-conspiring to bring me down. Whilst picking up the scattered contents of my bag (Westlife CD smashed into 4 pieces under cool shoes), I only managed to find small comfort knowing that even though I had missed nearly a whole English lesson, I was still a term and a half in front of everyone else.

Ferrus, I think that is an excellent theory!

The theory of Gryffindor being Fawkes really doesn't seem probable at all to me, but I could definately buy that Fawkes once belonged to Gryffindor.
Gryffindor being Fawkes just sounds off to me because I don't think that would be Godric Gryffindor's attitude towards death, and I don't think animagi can turn into magical creatures, only typical animals (but, like I said, if anyone knows of an example we've seen of an animagi turning into a magical creature, and I've missed it, let me know).
But there are some definate parallels between Gryffindor and Fawkes, and I think the theory that Fawkes once belonged to Gryffindor (since he is immortal, regardless... well, not so much immortal, he just gets a major rejuvination from time to time
) is quite possible. It would explain the hat, the sword, the faithfulness to Dumbledore and other Gryffindor house members (I don't think it's ever been said, but I believe Dumbledore was once in Gryffindor), the colors (what if Gryffindor chose red and gold as his colors, or someone else chose them as the Gryffindor colors, because of his pet phoenix?)...
Anyway, to both Becca and Ferrus, I give you props.

First of all i would like to give props to all the research done to start this thread...
Now I would like to say that there could be so many meanings to this book, and I do truly believe there is more to Harry Potter than just a really detail and twisted story about a young wizard coming to age.
I am firm believer of a greater meaning in everything...
The Holy Grail idea really stirs me...perhaps harry potter is book of the thoughts on life and faith...fueled through WWII allusions carried by wizards...where does the holy grail come in? The Holy Grail held Christ's blood, becoming The Cup of Life.
I'm not sure there is a huge conspiracy in the Vatican concerning the Harry Potter books, since the Pope has deemed them non-satanic or pagan or whatever...I think its just the fact that witchcraft is a non christian religion and to The Church that is being pagan since it does not worship GOD.
I'm Catholic in the means that I was baptized and reconciled and given my first eucharist and confirmed...yet I'm not sure if I'm really Catholic
I'm just Christian...I believe what I want to believe...no, actually I believe what my heart tells me is right...if you are up to the challege to see my beliefs, read The Last Battle by CS Lewis...brilliant
anyways back to Harry Potter, i think it is entirely possible that a holy grail theme or at least a Christian theme could be present...
as a future writer I know my works convey my beliefs and feelings through other things, and JKR is brillant enough to want to do this...
