Nikolaus nodded and soon enough, two goblets magically appeared in midair, floating to each of them. He took a sip of the firewhisky. Soon, he warmed up to the smooth fiery sensation down his throat. This time round, his eyes was no longer blank, but has returned to its usual grey cold eyes.
"So, care to share?" Gwydion urged. "I guess the magical mirror shattered at the sight of my handsome appearance..." Nikolaus offered an absurd explanation without any expression. Clearly, Gwydion was least amused by his wry sense of humour.
"It was just a practice gone awry. I was teaching Geneve some basic defensive spells but her protego charm was superb! Having to deflect my curse strongly that it ricocheted off the wall, hitting the old mirror by the side. And as for the rest, I guess you would already know it. I have no idea the mirror was enchanted, giving me and Geneve a weird confused memory. I thought I was dancing in the ballroom with Valencia once I got struck down by that shard... amazing enchantment isn't it?" |

Kiara felt her eyes well up from the pain Ryu was causing her. She could understand that he would be mad at her; she really did have a one sided view of the war. It was mainly because no one was allowed any where near the Wizard World places and no one ever bothered to speak to the wizards and witches. She had wanted to, but she was afraid. They WERE monsters to her, because they could do things that her and everyone she knew could not. She had found out one of her closest friends was a witch, and she had been hiding it all these years. She had chosen to live in the 'Muggle' World and go back and forth. She even married in the real world. But Kiara had not heard from her since the registration started; that was when she found out. People started registering all over the place, in every country. And if they didnt' do it voluntarily, Dumbledore's army had a device that helped the police and the army filter out any 'magical' activity. Kiara had covered it all. Looking at those people hurt or dying really made her heart sink. She never thought they could get hurt like that. She thought they were these comic book types that could never die. But apparently, it was easy enough because they still had all the faculties humans had; they just had the extra skill to perform magic. Kiara felt her arm strain as Ryu roughly pushed her. "Stop it! You're hurting me!" Ryu turned her around and pushed her against the wall, his hand at her throat. Kiara froze in fear; a little for her life, and a little for her hidden camera. His grip was firm, and her hands were bound behind her. She spoke. "P...please... I only did.. what I thought was right... " she gasped, Ryu's hand tightening on her neck. His expression softened, and he let her go again, and continued to lead her, a bit more gently. |

Ryu grimaced. Not once had ever even muttered the words of that horrific spell. "It's the killing curse," he said harshly. Grabbing the woman by the arms, he pinned her to the wall and bound her wrists with leather straps. "And if you run away again, I will not hesitate to knock you out." |

Kiara Quinn pushed at her hair and pinched her cheeks like she always did before she got on camera. She positioned herself at the shattered brick wall that revealed behind it the latest discovery of what was known in the media as "Hidden Wizard Elements". There were so many things happening right under their noses. Wizards and witches living among them in houses charmed to look like they weren't there. They could walk around un noticed if they wanted to, and the things they could do to harm you were unspeakable. Unspeakable to everyone but Kiara Quinn, who was a reporter for CNN. The latest scoop had landed her a flight to London where a wizarding market place had been found. She was attending to cover the story. "Okay Jack, now make sure you get that into the screen? Ready, count me in." The camera man help his hand up and counted down on his fingers, 3, 2, 1 and pointed to Kiara. "Good evening. I am live on location where police have uncovered yet another Hidden Wizard Element. A market place... " Kiara started to walk over the cobblestones, her high heels catching in the ancient looking blocks of stone. She looked down occassionally to watch her step. She came up to a shop and stopped in front of it. "Here we have been informed is where the wizards and witches buy and sell their potions and equipment that they have been using against human kind. It is said that this very shop is the location of the poison that has caused the British Prime Minister to be, as the delegates of Dumbeldore's army call it, 'confunded'. " Kiara articulated the last word. She crossed the road, Jack following her with expert skill. "The shop owners of this marketplace have been rounded up by police, but some of tried to escape. Using the technology provided by Dumbeldore's army to trace the magical escape technique of 'Disaaparation', the police are tracking several wizards including those responsible for wand making and fortune telling. These are dangerous criminals and should be continued armed and dangerous. " Kiara approached a man on the street. "Sir, how do you feel about this new discover of yet another Hidden Wizard Element?" The man turned and looked at Kiara, and then the camera. "Overwhelmed, I'm sure!" He exclaimed in a suitable british accent. Kiara winked at Jack off the screen, accenting her approval of their interviewee. "I can't believe this has been here all this time! I go to the pub just over there! And i never would have thought. They have us all under their spells and I bet they've put something in our water too!" "Do you think so? So perhaps they have been plotting all this time and could even have head quarters elsewhere with more such places of business?" Kiara probed. The man's eyes widened. "Oh yes! I'm sure they do! Oh! What will we do?!" The man took his hat off and wrung it in his hands. Kiara put her hand on the man's shoulder and he nearly started to cry. "We are all scared for our lives, indeed. So far, authorities all over the world are being given important communications regarding the whereabouts of such places as these. Soon ,they will all be revealed. Each country has a united plan of attack, thanks to the United nations. All wizard and witch activity and foundation must be reported and undone, for the safety of us all. The call to register is occuring in every major city of the globe. And rewards are being offered should you have any information. Please call. This is Kiara Quinn, CNN News, London." |

Yuta waited quietly in the forest around Inu's home, having arrived just as Neko and Inu were leaving. Yuta had sent a message to Ouki and Damien that they would be coming, and it seemed it had gotten through well enough. Yuta would go in. Soon. She just need a little bit of time to face all of this. It would be hard seeing everyone again.... Going back to the way things were. Yuta had let go of some of her stiff discipline these past months, delighted at being the one Inu and Neko depended upon, if only for a litte while. Now, it was entirely likely that she'd be back to the position of the sneaker, the one nobody payed much attention to, who everyone underestimated and belittled. In a way, Yuta was happy to be going back to that; it was familiar, and being constantly watched was hard. Yes, it would be good to know her place again. But she would arrive in style, that much was for sure. Darting up to the house, Yuta scaled the wall, knowing no one would see her. Once on the roof, Yuta crept into an attic window and descended the steps, until she was just outside the room where everyone had congregated. It was shadowy. Perfect. Slipping in unnoticed as Neko left, Yuta waited, bathed in shadows as she stood in a corner. The others continued their conversation, thinking nothing had happened, and eventually decided to join Neko for drinks. Joining the small clog-up at the door, Yuta managed to wedge herself in the exact middle of the group, then said to no one in particular, "Ah, good. I am a tad thirsty." The effect was absolutely delightful, as even Inu jumped slightly as they all realized her presence. "Long time, no see, huh?" Yuta smiled. |

Being so close to Ouki, no matter how cold the water was, made Damien warm. He smiled, gently pulling her along towards the fall. The closer they got, the further down they were pushed, and the colder it became. But he kept her coming. They swam deeper and deeper, closer to the wall, popping their ears along the way to stop the water pressure from hurting them. Then, when they should have hit the wall, they didn't. There was a tunnel.
Swimming through with Ouki, he felt his air supply become lower and lower. But he kept going, not ever worrying for a second. He just kept swimming, feeling the water chill against his skin. Then they started going upwards, feeling the water temperature raise slightly as they did so. For several more seconds, the two rose through the tunnel, until finally breaking the surface.
Damien looked around, breathing heavily. He could hear Ouki's breathing next to him as he treaded water. Raising his wand, Damien whispered "Lumos." The spell filled the cave with light, allowing for Damien to clearly see everything within.
Seeing the edge of the water, he swam over and pulled himself up, helping Ouki do so afterwards. The cave was warm, with another pool of water on the far edge of the cave. The floor of the cave itself was surprising. It comprised mostly off moss, making it feel cool and soft.
Both Damien and Ouki walked over to the other pool and looked into it. They couldn't tell where it led. Looking at eachother, they grinned. They'd gone this far, why not a bit more.
Slowly climbing into the water, Damien was surprised to find that the water was comfortably warm. Going under with Ouki, he began swimming down. He swam slowly, taking in the warmth of the water. Then something happened. It suddenly felt like gravity had shifted, and he was swimming upwards. He didn't know how. After all, he'd been swimming straight, with Ouki right next to him.
Apparently, she had felt the sensation too, as her pace quickened considerably. Damien joining her, they both swam as fast as they could. Then, out of nowhere, they breached the surface of the water. Upon rising up, they were taken away by the sight.
They were in a different, much larger cave, this one with hundreds of glowing crystals in the ceiling. The ground was covered in grass and moss, and several fruit trees could be found scattered around the area. The cave seemed to be illuminated from somewhere above, giving it the feeling of being out on a nice, mildly warm day.
"Wow," Damien gasped. "Ouki, this is amazing." |
