My advice is to make a copy of one of the applications and just start filling it out. Once you get that over with, the whole process seems so much less daunting. I think that the hardest part of doing mine was starting, but once I got past that, everything kind of fell into place.
As for the essays, just think of something that you feel strongly about and begin writing. If it's ideas that you're having trouble coming up with, then there are some essay sites with sample essays you can look to for inspiration. I'm not sure how long your monologues are supposed to be, or from what genre and the like, but
