On her site she says she might write an 8th book, but not as a continuation of the series and not as a story of another character (she says we will know evrything we have to know by the end of book7), but maybe as a reference book and she might include some information that hasn't found its place in the books.

JKR has asid that she wont leave us gessing. Who says that book 7 will be just about the 7th year in school. this last book could be about the 7th year at hogwarts and the rest of there lives. I know ive read books that tell a certain part of someones life and at the end theres a page about what happens later in there life. If this is the case it will most likely be a few chapters about the rest of the characters life. Just a thought

i did hear something about an 8th book, it would have all the material that didnt fit in the first 7 books. i never heard anything about a 9th tho

I believe I just read on JKR's site a couple of days ago that there would not be an 8th book -- that everything we needed to know would be given to us in books 6 & 7. I don't have the time to fact check at the moment, but I do believe it was right on her site.

Yeah, I think she said it on an interview. Though technically, it won't be an eighth book, more of summing up books 1-7.

Form the sounds of things even if it is done it won't be an actual story, anyway.
But hopefully she'll wrap it all up neatly in the seventh, anyway
